What's the least obtrusive red dot sight?

iron sights painted red

Not OP but that's the smallest to my knowledge. Wish they had more mounts for it

imo

>>63884505
I've got a couple of those, they're very smol but the drawback of the 1/3" window is too great and you still have the battery wort hanging off the butt
Burt !Gummer6chk No.63885988 [Report]
It's debatable that the Docter/Noblex Quicksight is also prohibitively small, but in terms of disruption I don't think it gets slicker

Red dots on pistols is the gayest shit ever. Get good with irons and stop with this alt-milk consumer nonsense

Ehh, if you have a full-size slide the extra width of the EPS vs the EPS carry isn’t that obtrusive.

>>63886003
Dots are so much better for rapid fire, putting accurate hits faster is the only thing that matters. Sorry this isn’t your fashion show
Burt !Gummer6chk No.63886059 [Report]
>>63886024
Probly not but the vertical dimension is the important one with teeny windows and that'd be the primary thing to make an EPS (Carry) superior to the leetle Docter, the width matters less

95% of gun ownership, carrying, and use is the aesthetic. If you can't get the aesthetic right you might as well walk around naked in a banana hammock with a pointy stick. The red dot completely ruins the aesthetic and makes the whole affair gay, limp wristed, and wimpy. Just ditch it, the extra millisecond of time you save with it doesn't make up for looking like a gay redditor

Irons only is fine if that's what you can afford, but let's not act like red dots don't provide a large jump in capability. If they don't let's see you post a webm of you shooting a timed bill drill.

They're really not new, the RMR has been around like 12 years. pistol dots for competition has been around for several decades. They've finally gotten to the point where they are reliable, small enough for carry, and durable for duty use (depending on dot). Training has caught up to the red dot and people are now skipping iron sights even.

and then this guy is hating on them when they've been proven already. lol

It has solar power.
Not having buttons has no relevance to being low profile.
The SCS is the most low profile optic without direct milling your slide.

It’s a type 2 RMR, I do not recommend it as it’s just so out of date compared to modern dots. The window is wasted since they put 1/3 of the window below the rear emitter housing, so under no circumstances could you ever use the lower 1/3 of the window. All dots since then have raised their window, I’m just using it since it looks cool and it’s American. The RMR HD which IMO is the best open emitter dot on the market is almost too large for conceal carry

If you care about bulkiness (ex: a CC weapon), don't get a red dot. After a certain size, they become worthless and really no better than hi-vis irons.

Lmao of course /k/ would call someone gay for preferring function over form. Noshoots like you are just into men's fashion and that's okay. You don't have to be performatively homophobic in response.

P.S. Irons are objectively inferior to dots but still better for carry because they are more comfortable.

maybe at longer ranges, they're basically the same close up. ben stoeger said so, so no matter what you say, I won't be convinced because he knows better than you. qed

For what purpose? The typical RMRs don't cause a problem size wise. The optic doesn't print because of angles and shit, the grip is still the part that wants to print.
Anonymous No.63891183 [Report] >>63891202 >>63891206
>>63891156
No shit he'd say that, Ben Stoeger doesn't aim retard. He just lines the gun up and yanks the trigger as fast as he can because that's how competition works. If he were shooting 3" targets instead of torso size targets then at close range it would be a landslide for red dots.

I can't criticize you for riding Stoeger's dick because I do it too. He would also say that anyone who is serious about performance shooting is using a dot. I still carry irons and like shooting them, but neo-fudds in search of a personality who trash red dots out of ignorance deserve abuse. And it's your duty as an informed shooter to deliver that abuse.

You clearly don't know much about competition because plenty of stages have 25 yard targets and the A zone is 6 inches wide. Slow fire iron boomers would shit their Depends in frustration.
Anonymous No.63891203 [Report] >>63891212
I had a kinda interesting thought.

Obviously most red dots on guns are still tacked on to an existing gun design that existed way before red dots were a thing.
Now if you design a pistol from the ground up for a red dot in the first place, you could strategically reserve space for it in the slide, and embedd it much deeper, and completely streamline for example the entire battery compartment and buttons into the slide.

Anyone seen something like that? A pistol that has a fully integrated red dot that goes beyond a couple millimeter deep milled interface to screw on a mostly external, bolted on red dot?

Right, and a DAO trigger is just as easy to master for the average user as SA one because look at Jerry miculeks revolver times and scores.

Ben would outshoot anyone here at close ranges with his eyes put out due to shear muscle memory and practice, for the crowd of shooters who don't shoot 50k rounds a year the dots superior in all situations.
>Inb4 training wheels r bad
They're great when you care about results instead of fashion or confusing contrarianism for having a personality.

That's what the Glock/Aimpoint A-Cut is trying to be. It won't work because dots are still iterating rapidly. End users want the ability to switch out dots easily.

Ben Stoeger doesn’t aim, he confirms that he’s pointed at the target with the sights. He tries to shoot target focused as much as possible so when he’s shooting irons he’s target focused like a dot, so not even using the irons and vaguely aware of their existence

You did not understand. That still has 85% of the red-dot sitting ABOVE the slide.
I'm talking about arranging gun components inside the slide around purposefully to make space for red dot components to get an overall more compact package with minimal red dot stickout from the slide.

Obviously such a gun wouldn't even have irons, yet alone using the rear irons to fasten down the red dot lmao.
Also it would still be possible to swap the dot for a better one, it would just have to be purpose designed for this new gun layout.

The dot sticking up out of the slide is good actually. You want window space to be able to track the dot under recoil.

Intentionally vague writing is bad writing, but I'll deliver the (you) you so desperately crave.

"Of course Ben Stoeger would say that—he doesn’t take extra time to aim carefully. Instead, he quickly aligns the gun and pulls the trigger as fast as possible, which is typical in competition shooting. If the targets were only 3 inches in size instead of full torso targets, red dot sights would have a significant advantage at close range."

Thanks Grok!

Everyone concerned with this is using a pistol dot in a non-optimal way. You should have your eye focussed on the target, and be merely aware of the dot as it crosses it. Once you do this all dot housings stop being obtrusive. What you want isn't an "unobtrusive" dot, it's a large window in which to find the dot.

You can use a target focus technique with irons but it's much harder.

>>63891266
The only way to do this would be to mount the dot on the rear of the slide, this would mandate a target focus because now the gun itself occludes the target.
