is anybody experienced with handgun target shooting? I'm looking to buy a 22 and maybe get into bullseye-ey competition style shooting and am wondering if i should bother worrying about the mechanical accuracy of the gun or barrel length at all? Can i get away with something like a taurus 942, or should i spring for a king cobra 22? is there a big difference in practical accuracy between 4in and 6in bbl, or should i just get the 4in so it's easier to hold? id like to get a revolver for aesthetics, but are they much worse than the semi auto victory/etc? are they even worse, or do people get semi autos mostly due to preference?

yes to a certain extent. there are some 22lr pistols that really are dogshit. mostly they attempt to replicate other guns like a 22lr 1911. you are mentioning revolvers so thats not really an issue.
barrel length doesnt effect accuracy. barrel quality does. which means dont buy a pos and expect good performance for target shooting.

Revolvers suck because they are expensive, but are extremely accurate and reliable, but you should maybe try out a used Victory or Mk IV and drop in a nice trigger and adjustable sights to see if you like the sport first. Purchased a sig P365 a few months back. Was having issues with accuracy, even at shorter distance. No issues whatsoever with my 1911, so I figured I was just over gripping or flinching.

Took it back to the range this weekend, and I notice the sights are completely out of whack. I've been ccing it primarily with a soft ankle holster and occasionally with a hard plastic iwb holster.

You should only get the VIS-100 if you're really proud of being Polish. At least in America it is extremely hard to get, expensive as fuck, and spare magazines are unobtainable. It is also heavy.
There is no point to getting a TP9 when the Rival/Mete variants exist. They use the same holsters but have notable design improvements like reinforced frames and better triggers. They are like a fork of the Walther PDP which has a better grip so maybe you want to check that out as well.
Gen 5 Glocks are pretty good but you get Glocks because they are a dream if.you want to tune them. If you just want good shit out of the box, there are other options. If Glocks don't click with you, you shouldn't force jt.

If you are in Poland this changes things.
The VIS-100 is a hammer-fired DA/SA metal duty gun. This means it is fatter and taller because of how the hammer functions. It is also heavy and if you intend onto carry it regularly you will notice this. You also have to learn 2 triggers and get used to the safety/decocker, it isn't just point and shoot.
It's not a bad gun, and in fact, pretty cool, but not the best option for carrying daily.
Caniks get shit for being Turkish but are not bad. I have one and was impressed with it enough that I still own it. I assume over there they must be cheap as all fuck or something, but in that case I'd look into the Walther PDP or HK VP9. They have the same uber-crisp trigger but much better ergonomics. Canik uses a very standard grip with a kinda shitty backstrap. The VP9 grip is fully customizable and the PDP's is organically curved.

So basically, a hammer fired handgun is dropping a hammer to fire the bullet while a striker is releasing a small metal rod that shoots forward. They feel different. A hammer dropping is a more crisp action than a striker actuating, which is why triggers are described as "spongy" or not having a clear "wall" when the trigger activates the mechanism. This is partly preference because some people like having a clear wall and others do not.
I forgot exactly how Caniks, PDPs, and VP9s which all derive from the Walther P99 system, are engineered, but they have the crispest trigger you can get in a striker fired gun without doing retarded custom tuning work.
The VIS is DA/SA so when the hammer is down, the first trigger pull is long and heavy, then every pull after switches into single action so it's highly short and crisp. You ultimately get a better, safer trigger but it is not consistent, you have to learn how to be accurate on the first shot which is different from the shots after. Two triggers. It's not as simple.
I think you will want one of the other 3 and recommend going to a club and groping them to see the different ergonomics they have.

Manually cocking the hammer is not something you want to do if you have to use the gun. You want to just draw, point, shoot. Another reason to get something besides the VIS is that since it is a military and police gun that is exclusive to Poland, there are probably almost no IWB holster options. You will be using shitty duty holsters like a cop that are massive and typically not good. Meanwhile canik, Walther, and HK will have many real holster choices available online. Support matters which is why Glock is considered king.

I'm relatively new to firearms. I recently purchased a PSA dagger and it came in today. I got a feel for in my hands and tested the trigger. However I'm running into an issue. When I pull the trigger initially I get the normal click but the trigger doesn't "reset" it just stays against the "wall". Compared to every other gun I have they don't do this. This doesn't even make sense for a gun to do. But it's difficult for me to describe since I'm so green.

Did I buy a piece of shit? I've done some research and it seems like it's a failure to reset/dead trigger. I'm already extremely annoyed that this thing is defect from out of the box but I'm not knowledgeable enough to fully say if it's a problem with the gun or a user error. If this is a failure with the gun I'm just going to return this pos and get a Ruger or a Beretta.

What do you guys think of the PX4 subcompact? Beretta discontinued them and now there are some pretty cheap ones popping up second hand. The regular PX4 seems to be highly endorsed here and I do lie the look and feel of them. However I noticed that the subcompact variant does not have a rotating barrel and some reviews complain that this compromises what the PX4 is all about and why it was discontinued. Between a Gen 5 and an M&P 2.0:
The M&P will have a longer, flatter, more upright grip than the squarer, more raked Glock. Some people prefer one or the other. The M&P will have a more fully cocked trigger, meaning a slightly lighter trigger pull. The Glock will have a DLC finish and very marginally more accurate barrel. That's about it. Test them out and decide for yourself, they're both class-leading guns. If you get a full size Glock, get the 47 over the 17.

The M&P 2.0 trigger shoe is better but I genuinely prefer the Glock trigger pull. It's a bit heavy but it's very positive and smoothes out nicely. The 2.0 is light but too mushy.
The M&P 2.0 is going to come with better target sights, that are also metal. Glock has combat sights meant for silhouette shooting crackniggers at 5 yards.
The M&P has a less square grip but the grip texture is a tossup. It is basically sandpaper so it's great to shoot with, but not to carry. Glock's new texture is great to carry and OK to shoot with.
If you aren't going to mod your gun, get the M&P, but test fire it ASAP because their QC is famously bad.

Has anyone tried loading a Glock OEM to 18 instead of 17? I did just that with ZSR 115gr 9x19 last range trip. It cycled reliably after an additional round with the chamber but I haven't tested this with NATO spec ammo [i e M882]. Even if it does work, I don't want to risk damaging the spring so I'll keep it at 17
