With the fire restrictions in effect and the police action videos failing to stimulate discussion in /hg/, there's no reason for me continuously posting but I will return in four to six weeks to finish the fight
In the meantime: farewell to Lube, Weedgineer, Pomni plushie owner, chrome plated Sig 226 guy, gookfoot, Desert Metro, every anon who supported me and especially the one with a PPK who posts Genshin Impact memes unsolicited!
PS
The only reason I would be back before August is if the fire restrictions end early or someone impersonates me [unlikely] or something really fucked up / relevant happens

>>63897533Good luck to you anon. I enjoy the bodycam footage.
>>63897498 (OP)How's the PDP? Debating getting one.
>>63897265fine and crisp are very different things. they're totally serviceable, but I'm no way are they crispy. spongy is probably the best single word to describe 320 triggers.
>any Smith striker is shit i think (you) keep saying this and your either no guns or and old fuck who's never heard of the 2.0s. MP 2.0 triggers are leaps and bounds better than any 320 trigger I've felt.
>>63897560I love it. I picked it up because I was tired of my Beretta 92s and 1911s pulling my pants down when I carry and I wanted something lighter. I also wanted to get a pistol with a dot so I could do a Modern Samurai Project class. I wound up enjoying shooting it just as much as my other guns though. I didn’t think I’d ever find a striker fired gun with a trigger I liked as much as my hammer fired guns but the PDP changed my mind.
anons, I bought these grips and they came in. They fit great but they have an insanely strong chemical smell of some kind out of the package. I had to put them outside until the smell evaporates off them. They look cool but the wood seems unfinished to me, it feels really harsh and dry on the skin. What's a good varnish/oil I can rub onto these to smooth them out and protect the wood?
>>63897569Solid endorsement. Thanks.

Do you guys have any recommendations for slim, double stack pistols?

>>63899161The single clip isn’t a problem. I have the nexbelt x safariland collab belt. The holster is good, the fit is significantly tighter than my TXC, DME, and C&G holsters. I hadn’t heard of Odin holsters before ordering this one but I’m impressed with it. Some people don’t like that the area around the trigger guard on the WML version is wider than other holsters but I don’t have a problem with it.

>>63900061I bought a USP .40 in 2020 thinking I was smart. I've shot it once, its an LEM model and the trigger is decent for HK. Thinking about loading it up with Buffalo Bore or something as a bear gun (I live on the east coast so I don't have to worry about Yogi or Coca Cola bears).
>>63899528I carry a v1 converted to v4.1 p2000. The best way to help improve the accuracy is to install the nickel flat spring . My biggest gripe is the lack of aftermarket sights for the pistol. Apart from that, I'm happy with the gun and I find it comfortable to carry.

I'm skinny and carry a g26 just fine. I actually sold a g48 to get the g26 because I also couldn't stand the slim grip. The trick is using a belt with some stretch in it. Hunter belt, Agonic or even a groove life belt. Pair it with a good holster and it carries just fine.
>>63900517Yeah, I have an FNS9c that's in between a 26 and a 19, but it feels just a little thick for me. I could do it, it would just be a pain. I feel like if I could find something slightly in between, it would work
>>63900517>holster-carrying a G26nigger why. if you're going to use a holster you may as well carry a G19. the G26 is a failed pocket pistol and /hg/ has literally been peer-pressured by one person into thinking the G26 is a good design. it sure is interesting that NO ONE. >>63901284>SP5I rented a SBR'd one from my local range a few days ago since I'd never gotten to try one before and I get a free rental every month. I was surprised by just how soft-shooting it is. Nice gun.
I could clean my 1911 and tard gf's Shield Plus, but I don't have much reason to, we didn't shoot enough to foul things up significantly, I just put a couple drops of oil on the rails and wiped off the feed ramps. Re-zero'd her Crimson Trace, it drifted maybe half an inch up+left, we had it turned off at the range so I'm uncertain when it happened or how quick.
2 months of back and forth with S&W customer support and they finally got the replacement front sight post to me for the Shield Plus. The stock one had no tritium, either never filled or glass broke. Rebate green dot at least arrived within the expected window. Honestly, not a bad little green dot, held zero and is clear enough even with me and tard gf's ligmatism eyes. Viridian RFX15. No idea on durability but I'll let you know if it ever takes a tumble.
1911 Operator took a tumble a couple weeks ago when I was experimenting with a new motorcycle jacket (one of those ones with gun pockets) and landed on pavement. Scuffed the slide, beavertail, left side of ambi safety, the edge of the hammer, and my slide release, feels bad but it was always destined to be my beater pistol. Also scuffed the side of the Holosun 507c ACSS I've got on it. Nothing broke though.

-optics ready
-WML rail
-good/nice trigger if possible
Stuff i'm gonna look at/rent if possible

the TLR7 A runs on a regular CR123 battery, the TLR7X runs on a rechargeable CR123 (or a regular CR123), and the TLRX HL is essentially the same as the TLR 7 X but has a lens that gives you more beam throw/higher candela/brighter spot, at the cost of protruding out forward more

On this JMCK "Custom AIWB" I think the DCC Monoblock is the most important part honestly. I don't like the FDE color though. But I'm happy with how it feels and it's pretty basic, no claws or wedge.
If the Monoblock or HLR clips will work on your Vedder maybe just try those out. They're a little rougher on belts/t-shirts but I think having the dual clips makes it easier for the holster to move with you, where a single big clip wants to either flop around or torque the whole holster as you move.
What's a good trail handgun? A lot of people recommend 10mm. Is a Glock 20 reliable?

Please help, I can't decide if my pistol had been demilled or damaged.
I've got in my possession an old bootleg FN service pocket pistol from Eastern Europe, but there is something funky going on inside its barrel. I can't tell if it had been demilled or a bullet exploded inside.
Looking from the outside into the barrel it appears as if an intact 9mm copper round is jammed inside. Looking from the inside it looks like silvery solder smeared all over the barrel right behind the bullet. From the length of it there seems to be no casing, only a bullet.
I tried hammering out the bullet, but I couldn't make it move either direction and didn't want to risk damaging the barrel.
I've been told it had been demilled, but there is no indication of that anywhere and I've reasons to doubt the veracity of the claim. The firing mechanism is also intact, making the gun likely to explode once fired, further discrediting the idea of demilitarizing.
Is there anyone here familiar with soviet demilling techniques to tell if my pistol had been demilled or simply damaged by a faulty bullet? Is there a better way of removing this junk than trying to hammer it out?

should I REALLY spend $4k on a new gun, suppressor, accessories, and ammo?
>>63902166Depends.
How safe do you want to feel and what is your penis size?
>>63902066There are like 3 places on Earth where caliber choice makes a relevant difference for wildlife defense. Alaska/Western Canada, Siberia, and the African savana. Anywhere else, 9mm is completely fine. Especially in 15rd capacities which the majority of compact 9's can hold.
The caliber debate is retarded fantasy bullshit for losers who just need to get laid or need to find more hobbies than just circlejerking over internet gun lore. Do not buy a gun in 10mm Auto. It's a police caliber meant for more effective penetration and lethality against humans.
Animals are stupid. Save your money and get a caliber that's cheap and fun to shoot.
>>63902167I don't go outside so the gun is just for rangefagging
Rather large
>>63902176Suppressor on a pistol if you're just shooting at indoor ranges is a limited gimmick, 9mm is not that hard to handle when you're doubled up on earpro.
>>63902213It's .45
And I'd have it by my bed in case but I seriously doubt there's any chance of a home invasion
>>63902227.45 is comparable to 9mm in volume. Suppressor isn't a terrible idea for a bed gun, but be prepared to have it held by the police for a moment if you use it, same with the gun of course.
>>63902165Maybe someone else tried hammering out the bullet and spread lead wall to wall from behind. Nobody would demil a gun by sticking a welding rod down into a barrel and plugging it with spooge. I don't even think you could do that with either stick or MIG. You'd drive a pin into the side and weld that from the outside, or weld one opening or another. Drill the center of the obstruction out and then hit harder.
>>63902233Yeah but most .45 is subsonic by default where 9mm is usually not.
>>63902259As a general rule 147 grain 9mm is subsonic out of handgun barrels and even barrels up to like 8-9 inches. In fact a lot of people that run 9mm 1911s run them with heavier grain 9mm loads since those loads become comparable to .45 performance.
I want to do a 10mm 8" 1911 long slide build. What are my options here? I can find a few options for 7" parts but nothing for 8".
At this rate I'll have to settle for 7" or buy my own fucking machine shop.
>>63902256>Nobody would demil a gun by sticking a welding rod down into a barrel You don't understand the level of sloppiness that was deemed acceptable in soviet times.
I don't think it's solder either, but looks like solder with a small impact crater dented outwards. I can't imagine a regular round leaving such a mess behind, unless it was some kind of special weird demilling ammo.
But thanks, I'll try hammering a bit more then maybe attempt drilling it. If it's lead as you say, then the barrel is probably unsalvageable anyways.
I recall anon having a 500 dollar budget for a semi auto and I mentioned used glocks, well now there's ones for sub 400 and it will shoot all the hot 9mm you can throw at it.
https://www.guns.com/used-guns/p/glock-g17-gen5-le-trade-in?i=358765
>>63902304Maybe a slug could have been braised in there but you could not physically get a welding stick in there to make a blob without leaving burn marks and boogers all over the inside, which you'd see. And you could never get a MIG or TIG arc in there. It's not physically possible.
>>63902319If it's not the result of demilling, then I have more confidence in getting somewhere with trying to remove it.
There are no burn mark or such, but I see scratches outside possibly hinting at previous removal attempts.
It's very difficult to see and there is no way to take a picture of it, but now I'm thinking maybe a larger than supposed 9mm round got loaded and fired from it, ultimately getting stuck halfway in the barrel. I also got a mishmash of ammo with it I couldn't really make sense of before. All technically 9mm, but different in shapes and sizes.

For 8in longslides, there are a few 8in customs made by Jim Hoag floating around, but he only made them in .45acp and they auction for like $45,000.
For longslides in hotter calibers, there are:
AMT Javelina (7in & 10mm)
Fusion Firearms custom builds (7in & 10mm)
RJ Renner (7in and advertised as chambered for .45 Super, but who knows? They may be willing to do a 10mm)
LAR Grizzly (5.4in, 6.5in, 8in & 10in barrels. Normally they're .45 Win Mag, but they made 10mm conversion kits. They also aren't true 1911's as they have almost no parts interchangeability, but they have the right look, save for being oversized in almost every dimension)
So if you really want an 8 inch 10mm, you can either settle for getting a 7in and putting a 1in bushing compensator (PTP Tactical or Valkyrie Dynamics) on it, or you can get a 2in nose piece from Karl Lippard (though it requires slight machining of the slide, or you can just bust out a dremel if you've got a steady hand) and installing it on a more common 6in longslide (or a 7in if you want an overall length of 9in), or trying to find a custom 1911 builder who is willing and able to make a 8in slide. I don't know who exactly you'd reach out to for that, but someone made a 16in 1911 for Kentucky Ballistics, so there are people out there who will do wacky stuff if you've got the cash to spend.
I went with an AMT Javelina and a 1in bushing comp. AMT has a bad reputation, but I've never had any issues with mine. And I don't use the busing comp that much cause it gets dirty as fuck very quickly.

S&W 952-2 (6in)
S&W 5906 PPC (6in)
Sig Sauer X-Six (6in)
SIG P210-5LS (6in)
Browning GP Competition (Not a true 6in slide, just has a clamp-on barrel weight that makes it look like a 6in)
Beretta 92 Target Competition (Not a true 7.25in slide, just has a clamp-on barrel weight that makes it look like a 7.25in)
CZ never had a 6in model until recently with the Shadow 2 Target, but I don't think it's available in the US yet. They made some models like the CTS LS-P, the TS 2, and the TSO that had 5.25ish inch barrels. And there are some European companies that have been making 6in CZ clones like Waffen Oschatz and the Frankonia Taipan, but they're rarely imported to the states. Currently the best bet for a 6in CZ type longslide is Tanfoglio with something like the Gold Match series.
And there are various companies that make 6in 1911s in 9mm as well.
All that, along with the Glock 17L and USP Elite V1, like you mentioned, is mostly it. There are some companies, like FN, who market pistols as "longslides" but they are only like 5.2in, and I don't really consider those longslides.

I don’t like the grip of the VP9 much at all.
I also think that both the VP9 and PDP have too big of a slide release for me and my firing grip, because I’ll get intermittent failures to lock back on both guns. Both are good guns with good track records, but neither are head and shoulders above the Glock on any metric that isn’t subjective. The Glock, PDP, VP9, M&P all occupy the space of perfectly cromulent guns that you should try, and decide which one to buy based on personal preference.

>>63906363I actually don’t think covers the whole story, at least in the case of the Walther. For reciprocating mass, the PDP is essentially the only gun in the class that is as light as the Glock (if you don’t count the P365 Macros), as most guns like the M&P and VP9 weigh 1-2 ounces more. The PDP slide is chunky and tall, but I’ve weighed both the Glock slide and Walther slide, and they’re essentially the same exact mass (I haven’t asked a VP9 owner to do the same because it doesn’t seem like anyone on /hg/ still owns one). Maybe you could argue the mass on the Walther puts out more torque because of bore axis/center of mass differences, but I think those are quite minor if you do the math.
I think it has more to do with the different spring rates of the guns, as well as maybe a potentially tighter chamber on the Walther (except the fps tests I’ve seen on the PDP versus Glock have gone both ways, which sorta disproves the chamber tightness theory). Again, both guns are very good, just for different reasons.

>>63906100I have a thousand rounds through the Osprey 45. It's super quiet, and the gun is actually more accurate with it. No problem with it, except for the latch on the suppressor comes lose, so I have to use a tactical band to keep it from coming undone.

For the anon in the last topic that wanted an HK45T picture. All cleaned!
Thread is almost dead, but for a 38 pocket pistol, is this pretty much the best?
>>63907007>10 round capacity in a full size double stack .45Absolutely pitiful. Why is HK so lazy when it comes to optimizing magazine capacity when compared to literally every single other manufacturer out there? They didn’t even start shipping full size VP9s with 17 round mags until several years ago.
>>63907033you could make the argument that you want boot grips for better concealability, or the raised rear sights don't belong on a carry piece, but they make the j frame way more pleasant to shoot so i'd say yeah
>>63907043I agree. It's why I cringe when people say it's a modernized USP. It's not. Like you said, the capacity is less, when it should have been the same or more. It's biggest sin is the lack of the recoil reduction spring. I have no idea why they would do that. The paddle release is bigger, but I prefer the textured button one on the USP. The grip on the HK45 is more comfortable and ergonomic to hold, but when shooting I find it's hard to hold onto the gun, while the brick USP grip stays in your hand.
USP really is just peak handgun. Just a pic rail, optic cut and either the LEM trigger or match trigger standard and it's perfect. I don't like them, but throw some front slide serrations on there too, I guess. Fit some more rounds in there without sacrificing reliability. If Hk really wants to innovate, make the variants easy to swap without practically having to gunsmith. Have all the different safety and trigger options come with the gun and easy to swap. Boom.
>>639059751911 Operator .45 and tard gf's Shield Plus 9mm don't do that and they've got notches, even with extremely dirty CCI Blazer. It's gotta be a 2011 thing.

My new targets came in…. I should not find this as funny as I do…. Planning on splurging and taking the 10mm, 44 mag, and 454 to the indoor range tomorrow (everything outdoors around me wants to be on fire) and probably annoying the people around me….
>>63907167Haha, no, that is pretty funny
I ordered an M*CARBO lightened spring kit for my FNS9c. I 've heard the frame roll pins are a pain in the ass to work with, so I may only change the striker and FPB springs and see if it reduces the trigger pull enough for me. The kit was only like $20, so it should be worth it regardless

>>63907167That's funny. How do they ship their targets, in a tube or in a flat box? Seems like if toobed, it could be annoying at the range if it doesn't hang flat and curls up.
>>63897498 (OP)should I build up my stock 34 gen 3 for carry optics or leave it for production and get the 17 gen 5 milled instead?
>>63903657RXM is a product improved Glock. It's better in every single way as far as I can tell. I always thought the grip angle complaint about the Glock was BS but now I'm a believer. I especially like the red dot mounting system over the Glock and I'm very excited about the future grip modules as I prefer a g45/g26 grip for my needs but I also find the g19 slide length to be the best. Gives me two configurations that Glock never made - a gen 3 g45 and a g26 long slide/g19k.
Can't wait to see what the aftermarket cooks up for the RXM.
>>63907033For a 38? Maybe. I recommend getting the 32 version with the titanium cylinder. Lighter, 1 more round and less recoil.

>Keep finding loose ammo and magazines I've lost
>Even finding slides and a shotgun
>Find like 6 pairs of eye and ear pro
Man I should have done this a long time ago.
Anyone have handgun and handgun accessory/ammo storage solutions they like? I prefer stuff that looks nondescript and easy to move, less so stuff like a gun rack and safes.
>>63908531Flat box, minimum order size was 250 though…. About 110$ after shipping and tax, but I shoot a lot and when I run out of targets I end up paying about 1$-2$ locally out of annoyance, so I didn’t mind the bulk pack.

>>63909232I hope you never reproduce.
>>63908870How does the lighter titanium one have less recoil?
>>63909329because it's 32 and not 38
>>63909343Oh. I missed that. 32? No thanks.

>>63909019I watched Ben’s take on it on the way home from the range. I hope Trex crashes and burns. I find Trex’s position indefensible and think less of anyone who supports them, I notice a lot of the support comes from the machine that tried to cancel Grand Thumb over his transphobic statements .
