What do you think about the concept? Basically it's a handful of good enough rifles for training or arming other people.

The odds of this scenario happening, being necessary, and actually working is so astronomically high it’s actually insane you made this thread. At least phrase it as “if things get shitty and people want guns during a high demand, low supply situation I can capitalize and sell a bunch of cheap guns

You don't want to arm people who would otherwise be unarmed. They're not armed for a reason. They're sheep.

However if you are serious I guess you could do worse. A 20 inch barrel in the hands of someone poorly trained will mean the few shots they actually make on target will have the most velocity possible, which is good.

Ruger 10/22's and SACKS full of 22LR and BX25 magazines.
If you wanna arm people that have never shot before this is
the gun to give them. These guns may not lay bodies down
right away but the people using the guns will QUICKLY
acclimate in to the use of this weapon. They'll be hitting
things with them fairly well.

I've been considering the same idea. 5-10 usable rifles. I know combat vets who only own fudd guns and who don't own an AR because they got sick of them - they don't care if other people have them, they just have bad memories. If SHTF, they'll totally take the AR over any fudd gun. There are lots of useful shooters who simply don't neeeed an AR...until they do. I keep a lot of extra mags and ammo on had for people who have ARs, but like only 3 or 4 mags. Spare bolts, springs, etc. I don't need 4 extra bolts laying around, but a good bolt might save someone's cheap AR from becoming a fencepost. I also keep spare water filters and canteens around. There are a lot of good, responsible people who don't live in a paranoid alt-right fantasy land 24/7, people who would be very useful if something did happen and a rifle was available for them. Some people prep, but their budget goes into food storage and production. Some people spend money on ham radio or drones. Some people spend money on off-grid energy production and machine shops. Most farmers around me have rolls of barbed wire around, welding equipment, intimate knowledge of the land and neighbors, and most know how to shoot well - but they only have a couple of fudd guns for pest control, not even a deer rifle. If the gun guys and the homestead guys and the ham guys and the DIY/hackspace guys each cover the supply bases they're good at for the group, they all exponentially increase their chance of success.

You can easily train a motivated nogunz to be a good enough shooter with a PSA AR and ~50 rounds of ammo, .22lr training is a waste of time because .223 is insanely mild out of a 20" already. Should you do it depends on your potential militia leader charisma

Yeah, he really didn't think that one through. Being a goon in SHTF is like being a crack addict. When you get a hit it's good as hell, but the other 99% of the time is objectively shit. You'll get the occasional rape and loot spree, but the rest of the time you're living rough, even by apocalypse standards.

Oh, and let's not forget that it's really hard to tax people whose possessions were stolen and houses burnt down, so the first objective of any government that forms will be shutting that shit down with prejudice.

Ok, so you have 2 ARs? Most guys don't have any more than that, even if they are "gun guys." If you are really doing the prepper thing and feel like blowing 8 grand on guns, it actually sort of makes sense to be ready to outfit a squad of skinnies

I personally think the correct way to do this is instead of having a bunch of shitty rifles to hand off to have one ok rifle. This way you have an ok rifle when friends or family shoot with you instead of a shitty one, and I really think in a SHTF scenario all the people I would want to have guns would have them, but could see the use in having one backup gun to handoff (someone I trust can’t get to theirs, lost it in the SHTF scenario, etc.). The idea of a bunch of shitty rifles though I think is unnecessary but that’s just personal opinion.
I think you’re doing “bunch of shitty rifles” the right way here.

ARs are easy as fuck to shoot, and anyone who you would want to give a "nice" rifle to already owns one probably. Besides, 90% of the difference between a nice AR and a "shit AR" is like 2 MOA of accuracy and a chrome-lined barrel, neither of which matter much when you are in SHTF. You won't have enough ammo to burn down the barrel and 3 MOA is fine unless you are fucking around in fields (aka, dead from drones)

At the bottom of the barrel there isn't quite as much savings, AR's are pretty much bottomed out imo. Full metal AR's (by which I mean, not ATI hybrid bullshit) frequently go for $400 (+ tax & shipping & transfer & tip). Rarely some $350 ones will come up. Or if you're really keeping on top of sales and assembling yourself from parts. Ammo is a big one to catch sales on, gear and optics almost always have holiday sales.

Did you even read my post? That was the point. And by nice rifle I don’t mean gucci, I just mean a nice rifle.
> You won't have enough ammo to burn down the barrel
If you’re handing out rifles to conscripts they probably will, it doesn’t take a lot to get that barrel hot as fuck and fuck it up if you’re dumping rounds. And most people’s first instincts at danger will be to dump rounds.

Its a really stupid idea. If you actually wanted to do this and not be an absolute waste of time:
>take armorer's course/ teach yourself (very doable)
>buy necessary tools
>wait for blem sales/ close outs etc
>assemble them piece by piece
This way when you finally realize what a dumb idea this was you had learned a valuable skill, learned a valuable lesson, and have some guns you can probably get your money back out of.

I think it's a good idea to have a rifle on hand for extended family members who are not armed because they will ask you during an emergency.

This. I disagree with everyone shitting on OP because it's only a half bad idea. I think realistically, if you shoot enough and enjoy the hobby, with enough time you should consooom and accumulate 4-6 guns eventually. These will all be things that you want and that you shoot regularly. SHTF never happens the way it's depicted in movies. It's usually a natural disaster in developed nations, or flavor of the month of civil unrest in shitholes. In all these cases most defensive gun use us the same as in a thirdie shithole: defending yourself using your CC gun. You need society to go full Haiti tier to see regular consistent rifle use. That is laughably unlikely, which means your own private collection of random handguns and rifles should be adequate. If you really want a small stockpile just buy something cheap that you might like and shoot it.

>>63900469
If you're just shooting with friends then just share the rifles you have. If they're noobs and you anticipate regularly training noobs buy a single trainer AR or better yet, a .22 rifle like the guy above says. Give your friends the TLC they deserve and train them in marksmanship 1 on 1, not in some wal mart larperator bullshit class. They'll get better faster that way.

If you insist on large group shooting and ymfor some reason your students refuse to bring their own guns just buy a bunch if cheap .22's. If they get serious they can buy their own rifle eventually. Ruger .22's are perfectly adequate for property defense. Nobody is going to fuck with an autist militia spamming accurate (cheap) fire at them.

Yeah, because buying mosins to try to arm people effectively is retarded.

If your point is that the crate should've been bought because it was a good deal, realize there was always a finite number of mosins, whereas there's no reason to expect a PSA 20" AR will ever be a rare item.

At best you'll have a bunch of armed yahoos that can vaguely shoot in a straight line and can maybe move in loose formation. A great case study to read up on is Hurricane Katrina. All of my coworkers wanted guns and to learn how to shoot after that.

>major disaster inbound
>national guard goes door to door disarming all law abiding people (Whites)
>entire city is flooded
>total social breakdown occurs
>cops stop patrolling the streets and go home to take care of their own families
>total lawlessness everywhere
>home invasions
>groids steal everything that isn't nailed down
>smart Whites who hid guns form small local militia to repel home invaders
>lots of rapes and crime committed against ordinary people
>blackwater deployed to defend and extricate VIPs
>absolute shit show

In a nutshell, you are responsible for your own security. If society breaks down, you will be on your own unless you are very wealthy. No one will be coming to help you. If you don't want to be responsible for securing your extended family, you might want to look into buying a few rifles that could be sold or loaned out in an emergency. If an emergency kicks off and everyone knows you have guns and you don't help your family, they will be pissed at you.

Imagine telling someone from the 90's that they can get a good functioning AR for around $400, let alone all the other options available to the public like NVG's.

Dumb take, it's a cheap force multiplier
After you have your rifle setup, and ammo, training, optics, plates, sustainment, NV, thermal, etc etc, there's nothing really left to do. Honestly, you hit diminishing returns on the return on investment pretty quick.
But three extra rifles to hand out let you quadruple the rounds you can put down range, cut the chances you're the target of returning fire by 75%. Three extra rifles will costs less than a lot of what a lot of you are thinking of buying 'next'.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

All these false allegations and you didn't even include the actual false allegations used by the feds. Pathetic.
