I guess like anything with severe austerity you'd have some pretty tight tolerances on material consumption, skip out of creature comforts and you'd be skipping over some technical processes. Like if you can cast it out of aluminum in sand instead of using billet and machining or using commonly dimension material just fucking everywhere. So if the factory makes 1.6mm plate steel, its just on fucking everything, want 0.8 or 2mm, nup fuck it you gets what your getting from the getting place... or 6mm plywood!
Kind of hard to say what happens on projects, once its accepted and shaken down, it goes off and keeps being abused by retarded conscripts until such a time as they destroy, wear them out or it just lies around in an armoury for special occasions. Problem with a lot of these shitholes is that they're so top-heavy on the leadership that nothing happens until someone notices it needs to happen, otherwise it is eternal
