Probably the hammer fired Springfield XD-E that nobody remembers. I wanted a single stack DA/SA and while it was pretty neat, the DA trigger was pretty bad.

I did buy a crappy AK that was covered from a single stack AK. That way probably the worst as I only kept it for about a week after learning more about it.

Rough Riders also have a reputation for internal part breakage, so you'll occasionally hear a SNAP and suddenly it won't work without a gunsmith trip. Fun times.

Grendal P30. Bought it at a pawn shop for $350 in the shit part of town because I like collecting weird ass handguns. Multiple jams per mag, the thing feels like airsoft, and the sights are vague approximations. Still interesting gun though, very much a prototype. Its my laundry room gun atm, hidden under the dryer, the absolute last line of defense against feral redguards.

Stevens 20 Gauge 3
Stevens 20 Gauge 3
md5: 2f77896956ce21f3bef3fa6f616dfbae๐Ÿ”
This Stevens bolt action 20 gauge is the worst gun I've bought. I paid $85 for it thinking it was at least a functioning gun, but the stock was cracked around the single retention lug (a bolt that goes vertically through the stock and screws into the action). This caused the action to jam itself backwards in the stock when it was fired and you had to smack it forward to cycle the bolt. I got tired of this and drilled a horizontal hole through the stock to insert a bolt right behind that stock attachment lug to prevent it from slamming back in the stock, and the lug sheared off 3 shots in. I slapped some hose clamps on it to hold the action down, took it out maybe three more times, and I haven't shot it since 2015.

A very close second would be a $1300 S&W 986 PC that arrived in an unfinished condition and would barely work. I took it apart, fitted all the parts right, and it's become a very good revolver, but that's the worst new gun I've ever bought.

While not the worst gun ever, the worst gun I've ever bought is a P82 Wanad, which comes from 1980s totalitarian communist Poland and is the kind of sidearm those goony gas-mask troopers from City-17 would carry while brutalizing people. I've had problems with the safety getting stuck, it's heavy, the ergonomics are uncomfortable, and it has a really heavy and creepy trigger pull. It was really cheap though and otherwise works. Could probably really bust someone's head open by bludgeoning him with it, which was probably the intended purpose.

Bersa .380. Crappy plastic hand grips, pain in the ass to break down, factory mags caused jams while aftermarket extended mags had no issue. Canโ€™t sell it due to low value and dealers noting it being high risk then for a straw-purchaser to come in and grab it.

NOTHING in milsurp is cheap anymore, especially anything American. "Collectors" (hoarders) bought it all up and are now trying to slowly sell off their collections at gun shows at 4x+ the price they paid.

A lot of boomers and gen x preppers that bought out whole inventories of milsurp stuff when it was relatively cheap and are still sitting on it today. I remember watching my LGS selling out of their entire stock of slavshit (dozens of SKS, soviet pistols) over a work week right after sandy hook, that was the last time I ever saw anything milsurp for a good price. From what I gathered talking to the manager it was two people that bought basically the entire stock.

>What is the worst gun you've bought?
There are 4 contenders for this title :
- Springfield M1A
- S&W Bodyguard
- Ruger LCP Max
- Beretta 3032

I really wanted to like the M1A. I made the mistake of thinking that if it was the civvy version of a US combat rifle it couldn't be too bad. I thought there was no way a garbage gun would be the standard rifle for infantry for any amount of time if it was garbage. I thought fucking wrong. Many folks have gone over why it's a garbage gun (myself included (more than once)). The short of it is : ammo picky, malfunctions at the drop of a hat including for being lubed incorrectly, loses zero if you disassemble it, needs very specific and specialized tools to clean/maintain, too fucking heavy for what it is, magazine insertion/removal is finicky as fuck. And and all positive hype is completely unjustified. Fucking garbage rod.

Smith's customer service was about as useful as tits on a bull. Ended up trading it in toward another purchase.

Ruger's LCP Max was an absolute shit show of a gun. It malfunctioned in two differnt ways that rendered it completely useless until you field stripped it. The first malfunction was the recoil springs jamming up on eachother and becoming stuck in the compressed position, leaving the slide open and the gun non functional. To fix : field strip it, pull the springs apart, lube em up, put the gun back together. Wait about 30 or so rounds and it'll happen again.
The other malfunction was caused by the recoil guide rod being too goddamn short and slightly bent. This meant that on occasion it could get jammed in the space between the end of the slide and the recoil lug on the barrel; freezing the action entirely, and rendering the gun useless until field stripped and put back together.
Not exactly good qualities for a carry piece.

Ruger's customer support was better, in that they sent me a new recoil guide rod no questions. BUT when that didn't fix things and I returned the gun to Ruger for service they _claimed_ to have fixed it and shot 30 rounds through it without incident. However, when I got it back, it malfunctioned in exactly the way it wasn't supposed to anymore on the first shot. Ruger ended up refunding me the purchase price.

SA Garrison in Stainless. I was in the market for a mid tier 1911 for in the woods. This motherfucker failed to eject every round from the start and even locked itself closed. Turns out thatโ€™s pretty common. The serrations were so sharp I tore some skin off my finger trying to open it. I didnโ€™t bother to send it back because Iโ€™d never trust it. Now it collects dust because I donโ€™t want to screw someone by selling it. Iโ€™ll never buy any Springfield Armory product again. Easily the Type 14 Nambu. I still love it for its history and its unusual characteristics, but man it is and was an objectively terrible gun. The first problem I had was it slam-firing and running away, which was due to a weak trigger bar spring (i.e. the sear was not resetting enough to catch the striker). Then, my striker tail broke (a notoriously common problem). Then, my grip panel cracked. Then, pulling the trigger WASN'T firing because the dovetail holding the trigger assembly has enough play that pulling the trigger pushes it away from the frame enough to not release the striker. On top of that, disassembly consists of so many loose fiddly bits that 9 out of 10 Nambus you pick up WILL be missing something.

It is a cool pistol that is mechanically interesting and has surprising comfortable ergos, but it is a piece of shit.

A 7.62x54r Vepr. The thing wasn't super reliable with the factory 5 round mags. Bolt would randomly get stuck to the rear and I'd have to mortar it out. They changed the bolt profile midway through and it didn't work with the SGM 10 rounders or Csspec 15 rounders. 7.62x54r surplus dried up shortly after and it was up to 60 cents a round. It was big and clunky and heavy and going about putting non sporter furniture on it was a massive headache. The BelOmo PSO 4x scope I put on it was also a piece of junk. I'm just happy I was able to trade it for a Steyr AUG thanks to its value shooting up due to sanctions

Ruger EC9, which is a shittier LC9, which is an LCP chambered in 9mm. It's super lightweight and poorly balanced, which means the recoil makes it basically worthless for rapid fire since the muzzle will be pointing skyward after every shot. The laser actually makes target acquisition take longer than it would with irons. Basically it's a self-defense pistol that will get you killed if you try to use it in self defense.

Get an opsol mini clip, let's you cycle the minis and they are substantially nicer to shoot out of shotties like these. It's 20 dollars for a piece of rubber and you can't cycle full shells with it in but it only takes a minute to install or remove anyway. If mini shells were more common and affordable I'd only be shooting them out of my Maverick 88 cruiser. I haven't had any reliability issues with mine

Remlin lever gun. It wasn't even that bad, but I should've just bought a Henry.

I've been pretty lucky, I research stuff into oblivion so I haven't made major mistakes. The Remlin I knew this risk, took it, and lost.

Failure to feed, failure to extract, double feeds, stuck bolts. My guess is shitty QC or bad head spacing, but I'm not much of a gunsmith. It's mostly customers selling us their guns, which we try to resell, only for them to come back the day of sale or day after due to these issues. I got into a bit of an argument with the owner, who wanted to keep reselling these PTRs for 900+ dollars without disclosing the issue these particular examples had. I ended up selling two for 400 dollars a piece after telling the customer that these rifles were turds and would need serious work. He said he'd try to fix them then email the results to me. It's been a month since then and I haven't heard back from him. I have other stories too if anyone wants to hear them.

Worst one by far was the keltec su16. The only keltec I ever bought and the only gun I ever sold. You know the whole thing about keltec and cocaine model trains and blah blah yeah it's real funny right? Well the memes are good but the gun is still a piece of shit. Dont let the marketing make you feel so good you actually spend hard earned money on that fisher price bullshit.

Second place probably the Ruger gp100 in 10mm, simply because autoloader revolver. The gun itself is gorgeous and built well. But yeah, don't like moon clips.

Third any over hyped piston AR

>whys that
it's not a bad gun, but it is the worst gun i've paid for out of all my guns. it commonly has feed issues where i'll need to rack it 2-3 times for it to finally put a bullet in the breech every couple of mags. using anything below a 20rd mag is a pain to get it to lock properly into the magwell at times and sometimes it wont lock unless you hold open the bolt while seating it. also when trying to release the mag you have to press the mag release a few times and slightly jiggle it to have gravity help unlock it from the gun. the wood stock screws keep falling out even after tightening them down repeatedly. reassembly is a slight pain in the ass. also not as popular as the ar15 (duh), so mags are more expensive. these are all minor things, but a mini14 isn't cheap.
i do like the sights and enjoy shooting it though, but i don't think i'd buy it again if given the opportunity.

>get an OPSOL

LOL, get with the times old man.

Defender Tactical sells a 500/590 modification you fit in to make any Mossberg pump or Mav88 cycle minis to 3 inchers for $40 (better than the OPSOL which is minis only).

The 590S or any Shockwave built off of a 590S will do the same, but will cost you more that's all.

Minishells have much less kick, but with Federal slugs, you can fit 9 in the Shockwave's tube instead of four or five of the 3 inchers or 2ยพ inch shells.

the first was the first couple of mags but i think just breaking it in smoothed off the bits with poor craftmanship and it ran reliably after i put 100 rounds through it and cleaned it
the other time it jammed one me was when i decided i was going to exclusively run the cheapest shit i could find through it and not clean it until it was jamming basically every round, it was able to make it about 500-600 rounds of questionable reloads and russian/turkshit ammo before it started to jam, purely from carbon and unrburnt powder building up in it
cleaned it after that and haven't had an issue since

stippling on it and just the general feel of it in your hand is ass, shoots pretty good though
what i really didnt like about it and what made me sell it was when i got more serious about shooting was when i was at the range in the summer and only ran like 60 rounds through it the frame had started to get soft enough that i could start to bend it with just my fingers & the safety/slide release also felt like it was stretching the frame when i used it
sold it after that because i got spooked that gun was just going to melt and possibly send the slide just going backwards at me when it melted through the frame

Tell me you don't own a 1911 without telling me you don't own a 1911.
I own three.
A Sig Sauer Nightmare Fastback
A Springfield Ronin
A Fusion Firearms Reaction
The Sig and the Springfield are both .45s. The Fusion is my meme machine, chambered in 10mm. With a barrel and spring swap I can shoot 40 S&W, 357 Sig, and 9x25 Dillon. Of the three, the only one that jams is the Fusion; but that is rarely, and only when shooting 357 Sig. The problem there is that 357 Sig is just too damn short for the mag well/magazine and so it can sometimes nosedive when feeding and jam below the feed ramp.

Look at the feg 32s on Atlantic's surplus section, usually have them and are in solid condition for a reasonable price:

Holy shit and here I'm worried about that same thing happening in the heat on my resin furniture/replacement parts project. Unknown to me I was being more dilligent in my materials selection than whoever the fuck chose the polymer blend at the factory that EAA imports guns from, LOL.

Might be an H&R? Actually might be decent if so, similar to a Sportsman 999. Sears had many guns rebranded as Sears, JC Higgins, and IIRC one other name. Anything from High Standard to H&R to Marlin/Glenfield and more. Sometimes as a special Sears exclusive variant of that model, too, IIRC.

Gen 1 KelTec Sub-2000 and Davis .380 pocket pistol.
Gen 1 KelTec
>first the plastic front sight broke off even though it was protected by a hood, had to order replacement
>then the plastic rear sight snapped in half from folding it, had to order replacement
>entire plastic pistol grip of the gun seperated at the center seam, cracking down the middle
>rear plastic buttstock wiggled around the buffer tube loosely
>hated the safety
>despite all this, the thing ran 100% reliably no matter how hard I tried to make it jam with underloaded reloads, steel case, cheap sterling and tula ammo, it liked it and it was accurate so i can't hate it that much
Davis .380
>was $90 in the 90s
>horrendous trigger but still fun to shoot somehow
>on the 7th mag shot, entire front half of the gun blew off downrange with the bullet

Stoner junkies have nothing to lose and thus don't care much if they go to prison. Gun people tend to have their lives in order and don't want to implode it for a flimsy reason.

My poor Star with a broken barrel link and the pin that went through the link bending upon replacing the link with a brand new US made one I personally fit. Oh boy is it a basketcase but one day I think I'll get some new US made springs and a slide stop replacement for it. It was everything I wanted (the same thing in doublestack would've been nice though) and it just didn't work out. Also that backstrap could be a lot flatter and fatter and it'd greatly increase comfort.

Get gud with it and put a bungee sling on the hand grip loop so you can carry it under a jacket for larping purposes.

Agreed and I say this as someone who actually really likes the Ruger LCP (single stack) for basically just being an improved Kel-tec p32 but with bigger boolet. Pretty much everyone else in the industry just does the half double mags better honestly.

I was for a brief period of time actually considering getting a Heritage Barkeep simply because they look funny but decided against it as an NAA revolver is even more comically smol and actually still very utilitarian so that will probably be a future purchase I make.

Speaking of Brazilium are Taurus revolvers still bad?

>are Taurus revolvers still bad?
They can be pretty decent; I like this snub .38 more than I like my LCRX or my Detective Special. I also have a Raging Hunter that's pretty cool.
The problem with Taurus is a. they don't do quality control before they ship it out, and b. there's one guy at the factory who's legit fucking retarded and makes shitty guns. When you buy a new Taurus, 9 times out of 10 you'll get a solid gun, and the tenth time you'll get a broken piece of shit. I had a Judge that locked up constantly and I have a Circuit Judge .44 Magnum >>63911754 with a wobbly stock and 7 MOA at 30 yards.
