I would rather spend my time getting good with my dominant hand. If I need to use my off hand things have probably already gone badly elsewhere. Violence of action seems to be what all the guys who've done it for real say whereas LimPen seems to be what all the bozos say.
As far as Boogerlube probablities. Idk, depends and I don't think it's worthwhile to have a discussion about it here because it's off topic and would require a lot of words and effort posting which would likely just get deleted or result in a ban.
So long story short it's likely enough in some form that it makes sense to strive to be located in an area that's highly racially homogeneous, has reasonable access to fresh drinking water, has a reasonably robust infrastructure, and isn't overly reliant on external support; reasonably self-sufficient.
Above all else having your own individual access to those things is best, think homestead.
Having a gun is good.
Being proficient with a gun is better.
Being self reliant is good.
Having a community of self reliance is better.
It's not rocket science.
It also doesn't take an end of world scenario for those to be aspirational goals. We saw during Covid how fragile supply chains are. Likewise we saw how ineffective police can be and how quickly mobs can form, turn violent, and destroy cities. All this while people still had to work, pay taxes, and the mail got delivered. Large institutions which make up every day life were for the most part unchanged. Point being it can get bad while also not being total anarchy. Planning for unexpected job loss more practical than planning for a fire fight at the local McDonalds.
