ANDERSON ARMS HAS BEEN BOUGHT BY RUGER
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/i-p-anderson-mfg-ruger-announces-asset-purchase-of-anderson-manufa-44821672

>Ruger has announced that they have purchased the company and will not be continuing the name.

>This acquisition is an incredible opportunity to advance our long-term strategy and expand Ruger’s capacity,” said Todd Seyfert, President and CEO of Ruger. “We’re excited to welcome members from the talented team at Anderson Manufacturing and leverage their knowledge and infrastructure to better serve our customers. This move reinforces Ruger’s position as a leader in the industry, and reiterates my focus on continued growth, even as others scale back.

That’s true. Would be interesting to see PSA acquire them in a lot of ways, if they maintained Aero QC practices in the Aero side of things PSA could offer a genuinely higher end product

They did but you have to put it in the context of the time. I'm a WAfag and saw it firsthand.
Aero operates out of Washington. At the time during the scamdemic, WA's governor wanted to be California and the AG hates guns. Like, rabidly hates guns and gun owners. He's our governor now too.
Anyway, I would bet that Aero was afraid of getting shut down for not requiring the vaxx and their owners were worried about money. I could be wrong but that's the impression we got from the ground level.
Honestly I'm more upset with Rainier Arms handing over customer data to Leticia James in NY when she threatened to sue them for selling P80 jigs. Rainier didn't even wait for a search warrant, they just did it.

Ruger is trying to shut off their competition for their ARs. For most distributors you have no budget lowers available when they sell off their inventory unless your distributor has FMK. Ruger is shooting a shot against the bow at PSA.

From all my reading Sabre seems to be the same as the rest of the PSA stuff, just scaled up. The individual parts are excellent for the money and if you get one that is assembled properly you have an excellent price-performance rifle. PSA’s ARs are over hated imo but you have to watch out for those over-torqued barrels. PSA’s Harambe, and such.

In my experience ruger QC is very good, if they can spit out sub $200 lowers from the Anderson plant with ruger levels of QC I would treat those as the go-to lower over PSA or Aero

Seems like a good move. Gun market in general is slow right now and AR sales are stagnant. It is a time for consolidations. Ruger has a diverse product line that can float them no matter where the market goes, and Anderson's manufacturing capacity can make ARs while their Prescott plant can focus on other things.
>>63924403
I've never had a problem with Anderson. Their lowers, uppers and complete rifles have been unremarkable but reasonably well machined and put together. I have seen some absolute dog shit out of spec budget ARs in my time but never an Anderson that firmly landed in that category.
>>63925878
Not right away, but if you stow it for a few years somebody might want be looking for one still in the blister pack purely for the novelty.
>>63926178
>>63927518
That would be a good move, but I'm not sure Ruger would be interested in selling receivers. They always seemed leery of the idea. For instance there are tons of 3rd party 10/22 receivers but none for Ruger themselves.

That could change though. RXM lines them up to offer a trigger pack/module by itself like Sig does.

Volquartsen has to buy complete Mk IV pistols to get the grip modules to mate to their own uppers, then they sell off the Ruger uppers for $35 (FFL required).

They won't. Anderson + PSA is what has kept PSA selling uppers for the last decade. PSA doesn't sell to distributors in most of the country and that is how it works for most gun shops to get new firearms.

Selling their own lowers is something I can never see Ruger doing as they make way too much money on marking up budget parts and assembly.

I don't think they will. Someone is going to need to fill the Anderson gap in the market. I think Noreen out of Belgrade, Montana might be really well placed to fill the void. For the longest time they were selling 80% lowers at sub Anderson prices and 100% on par with Anderson. They could make a ton of money dumping receivers into distributors.

100-150 dollar receivers like I see now from SilencerCo or whoever is making "G2G" receivers are not workable. It will push a completed AR to 500 dollars which coincidentally is where Rugers' budget line starts at.

People acting like Anderson spit out piss poor quality lowers, that's simply not the case. As a matter of fact I've never had an out of spec lower from any manufacturer

>I've never had an out of spec lower from any manufacturer
Well I must be one unlucky bastard (this is probably a rarity to be fair) because I do have exactly ONE out of spec Anderson lower. My original AR build I did when I was 21 is built off an out of spec Anderson, which I discovered when I tried to put in a drop in trigger. I eventually got another Anderson on sale for $30 and that was in spec. I've ended up with 5 so far, and that first one is the only one out of spec. I don't know if that's telling, but it certainly is possible.

It's not out of the question to get defects for sure. While not a lower I got a Glock that had to go back due to an out of spec slide.

I bought a Ruger lower from fleet farm a few years ago. The thing sucked and was out of spec. Thing was on sale for like $60 so I didn't waste time trying to get customer service to make it right

I think those were specifically from them discontinuing one of their budget lines (production overrun). Afaik they don’t make a lower for sale specifically and won’t.

I haven’t owned a ruger but I have three friends with a bunch of their stuff from revolvers and different rifles for years Ive messed with. Also haven’t heard much bad online aside from mini 14 accuracy issues. So I don’t have a negative issue on them or have something that would stop me from buying something of theirs in the future
