Only he didn't design the A2 grip. A1 has no tumor. A2 is design by committee cancer.

With the nub filed off yes, it’s the best grip. Tang extensions on grips do not allow for the proper grip. The a2 is the same diameter as an olympic dumbbell and is the perfect diameter for the average fit male. Most people dont know how to shoot. The trigger hand does not control the rifle, the support hand does.
Anonymous No.63928080 [Report]
>>63928010
>The trigger hand does not control the rifle
well put
you should be able to shoot and aim your gun with slack on your trigger hand or even have your thumb on the side of the receiver instead of around the grip

So it's pretty well known at this point that no one actually hates this grip except losers like Hop?

looks cool and I don't really have any problems with the ergo
I imagine something like the BCM gunfighter would be more comfy and the in grip storage would be nice but I simply don't care enough about those two things to switch and then my gun would look a little bit less cool

I do. It just fits my hands better than the grips on other peoples guns that I've tried and the nub doesn't get in my way. I'm sure there's aftermarket grips out there that are a great fit for me but I don't care enough to spend money to find out when this came with my rifle for free and already works.

I do, once you get used to the nub it becomes a must have feature. Your hand is always indexed correctly and it allows you more control over your rifle one handed. This matters for off the range stuff like patrolling or whatever. I've got a ton of good fat A2 grips, newer ones are 100% cheaper and poopy, but old ones are good. These days though I'm increasingly enjoying the B5 LS2 grip that is a clone of the Lonestar stowaway. Also has the nub and a bit more aggressive texturing

Anonymous No.63928931 [Report]

Yes, I like it. If you read the initial studies it's a compromise design over the original attempts at individual finger grooves and all-smooth grips, tailored to fit an ergonomic % of 1960s American troop hands for better indexing. I wouldn't buy any other grip.

The A2 was designed to be uncomfortable for small statured soldiers, i.e. women. It was an era when more and more women were joining the military, and the old breed didn't want them to succeed. So they took the perfect A1 stock that fits almost everyone and gave it a length of pull for a 6'3" dude. They changed the grip to make it fit big hands. And despite adopting the 9mm they adopted a big ass handgun also made to fit big hands. So, ordinance basically fucked over everyone just to make it hard for women. Basically the same passive aggressive shit they pulled with the powder and cleaning kits when the old breed didn't want to replace the M14, malicious compliance shit.

The A1 grip was actually a phenolic resin of some kind too. Not sure if Bakelite brand Bakelite in that but weathered examples get pretty and mottled. The 601s with green paint on all furniture have brown grips. Some handguards and stocks may be brown. An early prototype of the AR-15 had real sweet swirled brown furniture. What could've been.

This guy https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/Why-did-the-military-go-from-the-A1-pistol-grip-to-the-A2-pistol-grip-/118-626884/ on Arfcom actually made, as I understand, the first A2 prototype using an A1 grip and Bondo. CTRL+F "Coldblue". But also yes it seems from what he said a lot of the A2 was commitee design down to the FSP.

someone probably already said it ITT but that a2 grip is genuinely trash and any grip at that angle, its from a time when you shouldered the gun really high, so youre almost chicken winging it but your wrist is comfortable like that - makes no sense to use on any taller mounted cheek weld AR, try it and see it just feels like ass.

It's not like the P226 is a particularly small gun either. I guess it doesn't have the retarded safety/decocker to worry about like the actual M9 did, but it's still a boat anchor for what it is.

It's funny I see a lot of anons say it's too slim because I was trying to figure out whether a box of A2s in a surplus store were real or commercial yesterday. Apparently a lot of the commercial ones don't include the palmswell and this causes a lot of hate for the A2 because of that. Not sure if it's true but I'm going to have to start paying closer attention.
