Ukraine are being pushed back very slowly on the eastern front (at great cost in terms of Russian causalities, we'll get to that later), northern front relatively stable after the transfer of fresh units there. Ukraine was a momentary, powerful wakeup call, but I see the west slipping back into lethargy as the stalemate in ukraine becomes a "new normal". this risks us being complacent and ultimately not able to respond and arm up fast enough. trump seems to be doing a good job, despite his infinite retardation, of helping europe get spooked into rearming though so far. I just hope our weak and cowardly leaders either wise up or switch out for better ones soon, although I highly doubt this will happen without a straightup war in europe. there's also a non negligible risk of significant, ethnicity-related civil disorder (unlikely to be full blown civil wars but still significant, something like the troubles) and infrastructure disruption in many western european cities in the next decade. but I believe optimism is a virtue and that europe will pull through and return to where it needs to be within my lifetime

I didn't stop watching anime because of social pressure, I'm just not that invested in anime in-and-of-itself (i.e. I don't keep track of what animes are popular/coming out and then watch them deliberately), though I used to be to a very minor extent when I was younger. Generally speaking I just watch anime the same way I watch any other show, if I hear about it and it looks good I'll check it out (though I've noticed recently I've heard of fuck all popular or interesting animes coming out for many months now). oh also evangelion is massively overrated (or at the very least, the cultural impact of the show seems to me to be totally divorced from the actual content of the show itself)

i am just a dude who likes what he likes with no care for category or whether or not something is popular or unpopular, my opinion is insular to whatever popular opinion is, so, maybe.

most of the reason i like anime is because i like the concept of 2d animation specifically and sakuga compilations make my dick wet, my autist brain finds 2d stylized animation more interesting than real life actors often. anime with good story is nice but cool factor and direction/animation quality are more important to me.

ecchi and fanservice anime are a different category and i exclusively watched those when i was an adolescent who didn't know what danbooru was. still like anime tiddies though so if a show combines jiggly boobies with an engaging show i'll still watch it.
