Nothing, those are old ass destroyers with modern sensors and weapon systems removed because of Jap constitution, laws and American sensibilities.

Pinoy navy are still stuck with the moar hullz mindset instead of investing in modern fully armed, wartime capable vessels.

They are old ships, and still not going to be transferred until at least next year. Still, if they were kept in good condition, then they would be valuable to the Philippines. Anything to bolster defense against the hostile Chinese Coast Guard ships and fishing boats.
Also potentially transferring training aircraft. All part of a larger Japan-Philippines joint agreement for training. Which could mean that in return, Japan gets chances to practice with its new marine forces.

What they need are frigates who could sink multiple PLAN warships before scooting away

there's the 8 round Mk 29 essm box launchers they could probably install without too much trouble, which would be enough for local air defense (medium range).

ciws is generally good enough to shoot down drones or one incoming missile. 76mm works alright against drones too.

Why did the Philippines try to ally with China and why the fuck did China respond with "NO U, FUK U PINOY DOG, DIE, GO BE ON AMERICA'S SIDE"?

It was genuinely one of the most incomprehensible moments I've ever seen in foreign relations, China was offered an incredible diplomatic boon and leverage in the Pacific for free, and they... got furious about it?

I still don't get it, it's like if Putin called Serbia and told them he hated them and demanded they join NATO

Because the "multipolar world" all collectively rides the short bus.
They've alienated several nations that were ranging from neutral to sympathetic towards them, all while also working against the "allies" they did have. Imagine if China, Russia, Iran, etc. coordinated their movement in 2022. It could have really upended things if the opponents of the West all stepped up at once. Instead, they've chosen to faceplant one-by-one and act increasingly like wounded animals lashing out at anything/everything.

China sees through the ruse, they know that the Philippines will be forever America's bitch and a single outlier administration isn't going to change 100+ years of foreign policy.

That's why they don't treat the Philippines as a sovereign country but rather as a US vassal who doesn't have a policy and mind of their own.

It's a stark contrast to how they deal with other ASEAN countries, even other SCS claimants where China might not see them as equals and may even view them as equally subhuman compared to the superior Han but they won't go out of their way to antagonize them like they do with the Philippines.

To China the Philippines is just an irrelevant butthurt belt country who will never stand up to them but can become useful idiots given the right amount of yuan injected to a few politicians with access to state influence and powers.

The Philippines on their end are incompetent and inept with their childish belief that they can deal with China with only soft power. A campaign slogan, Twitter pity campaign and rally bluster is different from buying military equipment from allies designed to inflict maximum casualties against the PLA. The political establishment in the Philippines doesn't view national defense as important and would rather cajole and be subjugated by foreign invaders for the nth time.

It's already been altered. Not the text, just the interpretation. They have aircraft carriers and marine units. Something they shunned for decades, until the Diet accept a definition of collective defense.
If an ally is attacked, and it appears Japan is soon to follow, the Self-Defense Forces can take action. It's a reality China wants to ignore, and claim won't happen. If war comes and China starts it, they're going against multiple nations at once.

No it's exactly what China expects and is preparing for. Japan openly bragged how they could easily defeat the Chinese navy in the 90s and everyone in China heard. It's the part of the whole reason behind China's naval buildup, the other reasons being America, Taiwan and the south China sea.

They don't want a multipolar world, they want one where they can have all the vassals they desire with no trouble at all and all those bastard countries with all their 'laws' and 'freedoms' get the humiliation they deserve. But 'world where I am the king of everything' just isn't as nice sounding, and it doesn't get you useful idiots to secretly help YOU become the top dog in the world.
Every nation in the 'multipolar world order' club thinks that way. No allies, only convenient suckers and people you'll stab in the back last. They don't seem to get that the reason the US is at the top is because they put in the work to make friends. Even China, who seems to sort of get the idea of 'friends are useful', doesn't realize that the US's 'plan' doesn't ever involve turning allies into vassals (or at least, it didn't involve that before)
So they'll all do the same thing - puff their chests out, say they're number one, boldly go off to claim the clay they think they deserve, only to get their asses handed to them by nations who would rather be their own thing and who like the current order. All the while their 'friends' sit back and laugh, thinking they could never meet the same fate if THEY tried that.

Outside of the two Koreas, everyone in Asia was pretty much demilitarized in that era. Even the Chinks were spent.

Tens of thousands of Americans died defending the Philippines, then liberating it in WW2. The US-Philippines alliance is ironclad

I don't think so Chink.

The Philippines is a strategic point for the Pacific. It acts as a buffer zone for western countries to the Pacific.
They will never let other countries get their hands on it.

Research more and learn history maybe you'll get that chinkoid propaganda cool aid out your little penis.

Do they not teach about WW2 in China? I mean, actual WW2. Not whatever fanfic Mao wrote about himself.

vls is only really useful if you're going for an anti-air warship. this thing still has 8 harpoons and 8 asroc, which is enough for anti-surface and anti-sub. 8 harpoon is enough to get through the defenses of a ddg/cg at decent range, so still very useful for war, especially if you use drones for observation.

Philippines should be spending 5% of their GDP on procurement alone.

They can never match China 1:1 but if they buy the right gear they can inflict so much casualties to the PLAN they would rather back off and sail back to China than risk international humiliation and possible retaliation.

Also shitholes like them need to look at Ukraine and invest in cheapo suicide drones, you don't need to sink a ship but damaging critical parts and setting it ablaze is doable.

I dunno man, the phillipines sucks. They're comically corrupt and incompetent, and have pissed off pretty much everyone. I dont think we would actually care about saving them, it would just be an excuse to sink as many chinese ships as possible

They couldn't even afford 20 F-16Vs much less all of those.

China will continue to beat them up and they'll take it like good keks.
