I just got my foid card, I need help finding a good shotgun to buy, preferably 12 gauge and pump action, it's main purpose is home defense and range fun.
I live in Illinois so I have pretty stupid laws.
Any recommendations?

Mav 88 is the classic poor man's gun .
A 590 is my preferred midline option.
KSG let's you cheat the mag ban since it's two 7 round tubes.
A300 is probably your only option for semi auto

You could buy a maverick 88 and load it with flight control shells. You probably wouldn't have to spend more than like 300-400$ depending on where you buy the ammo from and how much the transfer fee is.

Mav88 or 590S (latter shoots minis as well as full shells, the former can be modified to do so).

For semiauto, I use a modified turkshit Citadel Warthog with a lengthened shell tube.

There's no mag limit on pump action, so the dual tube meme wouldn't be affected.

Look into a Benelli super nova. Very under rated and only a little more than a mid range Mossberg. As for Remington 870's I dunno if they still suck post Freedom Group/Cerberus Capital Management but the general advice is to aim for avoiding ones made after that buyout.
