I was recently on a reserve ex where i got my hands on a new rifle that had a aimpoint reddot sight (previously i had and G3 with irons). we had quite the shit weather so it was constantly raining. the sight was constantly fogged up and i couldnt even use the back up irons because i would need to see trough the sight (which is fogged to shit). any suggestions when i inevitably get called up again? there was an anti fog wipe thing in the weapon maintenance kit but it didnt seem to work or maybe i was just a fucking retarded reservist

If fogged up inside then your armorer and country suck. Antifog wipes should work, it is just glass. The honeycomb glare hider might also make it better or worse. I never had problems with my issued aimpoint CCO, other than my late-diagnosed astigmatism, now corrected by glasses.

I probably would have done better in school had I realized that other students could read the chalkboard without getting a headache.

Oh one other thing, keep the rubber caps on if you're taking it out of a cold indoors room and to the hot and wet outdoors. The colder rifle will condense water from the air like a cold beer until it warms up to ambient. The rubber lens caps can keep that condensation off until it warms up.

You can leave the front cap on the sight and remove the rear cap. If you have to react to contact quickly, you can aim normally with both eyes open to kind of look past the dot and trick your mind into projecting it onto your target

Yeah I really like that it takes 1 AA and not AAA nor 123 nor a watch battery. Fuck headlamps always wanting AAA.

You won't be accurate shooting like that and if you think about it too hard your eyes will correct themselves so it won't work, but it's really useful to keep the sight clean in mud and snow if you have to take cover or bound quickly.
