Are diapers ever necessary for soldiers in warfare? It's a topic that seems rarely talked about.

Just get new underwear

The infantry can just go into the bushes nearby, and the ship is well-equipped with living facilities, so the pilots will likely have the most trouble with defecation.

Pilots were them for long missions, wouldn't be the worst idea for vehicle crews to wear them too depending on mission.
Infantry can generally find somewhere yo take a dump.

As for video related I wouldn't be surprised if they are random civilians, been kept there for hours or both.

Five years ago, thirty thousand men shit themselves in the blink of an eye, and the world just fuckin' smelled. Tomorrow, there will be no shortage of kevlar diapers, no shortage of armor piercing ass chili. I know you tactically dine at taco bell.

In a torture situation like the OP, inducing incontinence or vomiting would also be a form of repression.
