Considering getting a rifle that I want I use for game and varmints in the UP of Michigan. Needs to be level or bolt action. What should I go with? Looking for something that is easy to carry in the woods. Price isn't a huge consideration. What would you use? I need to deal with everything from Beaver to Bear?

You can have a gun that will do everything OP wants. But IMO it's more about the ammo than the gun. That said, the gun needs to be a bolt action that is accurate and easy to carry, and it needs to be chambered in 30-06. My reasoning : I assume OP is going to be walking around because of his "beaver to bear" statement. So, easy to carry is a must. 30-06 will handle anything from varmint to brown bear, AND leave you a nice pelt/meat _IF_ you use the proper load. There is a fantastic amount of choice for .308 bullets, and the capacity of the 30-06 case allows for a larger range of loads than a .308. This is why your gun needs to be a bolt action; you'll have to load it in response to what you come across, perhaps one round at a time, and this is going to be much easier with a bolt than a lever. And I'm not sure anyone even makes a 30-06 lever. And it means you'll have to carry a bunch of different rounds on your person while you're walking around.
So, keep your magazine full of bear rounds just in case. Keep a number of other loads on your person for a variety of game and load them in the chamber as needed.
Of course this requires OP to either hand load or know someone they trust to make loads for them.
But it can be done.
