What is america's most secret\deep paranormal stuff, illegal by international law, military force? I can think of: Team Orange (ISA), the airborne-army Black Knights, CIA's SAC\paramiltary officers, Omega and Alpha "hunt teams" and NSA's SCS. Scorpion Program was NSA+CIA
maybe some DARPA stuff? what lies higher and thinner on the Spear's Tip?

>TAO (Tailored Access Operations) – The NSA’s ultra‑secret cyber‑warfare unit that conducts offensive hacking. TAO (also known as Computer Network Operations) is staffed by hundreds of military/civilian hackers and engineers
Since the late 1990s TAO has secretly penetrated foreign computer systems and telecom (even physically installing implants via submarines or on-site agents) to gather intelligence
Leaked documents confirm TAO has powerful exploits (“QuantumSquirrel”) for breaking into routers, and it works with the CIA/FBI to place eavesdropping gear on networks abroad
These NSA cyber programs are a modern form of clandestine war.
>CIA Black Programs and Paramilitary Squads – Beyond SAC, the CIA ran numerous covert units: for example, early in Afghanistan CIA “Jawbreaker” and “Jawbreaker/OD Green” teams (including CIA paramilitary “Case Officers” and Special Forces) conducted special missions. The CIA’s involvement in operations is so secret that many units (like the CIA-run Phoenix Program in Vietnam) operated under colorful names and never wore uniforms
Such programs straddle the line between intelligence and warfare.
>HUMINT and SIGINT Fusion – Several units specialize in pairing human spies with tech. In addition to ISA above, NSA’s Counterintelligence Field Activity (CIFA) and CIA’s Directorate of Operations often embed SIGINT analysts with clandestine HUMINT teams overseas. For example, Army Special Forces Mobile Strike Force Teams (A-Teams) in Cold War Latin America sometimes carried satellite phones and spies simultaneously. The point is that many “secret” ops blur the lines between spying and combat.
Anonymous No.63985347 [Report] >>63985765
>Intelligence Support Activity (ISA/“Task Force Orange”) – A top-secret U.S. Army intelligence unit (originally US Army Intelligence Support Activity) that blends human and signals intelligence to support JSOC raids. It grew out of the 1980s Eagle Claw fiasco and was built under a Special Access ProgramISA (nicknamed the “Army of Northern Virginia” or Task Force Orange) runs covert HUMINT/SIGINT teams ahead of Tier-1 raids Its existence was long classified, and it remains one of the least-known U.S. special mission units.
>Alpha” and “Omega” Hunt Teams – In the Global War on Terror the CIA teamed up with JSOC to form secret “hunter-killer” squads. For example, so‑called Omega Teams were joint CIA–JSOC teams that hunted high‑value terrorists in Afghanistan/Pakistan/Yemen during the 2000s
(An earlier CIA “Team Alpha” insertion on 9/11 included officer Mike Spann, who was killed that fall – the first US combat casualty in Afghanistan) These teams combined CIA case officers with Delta and SEAL operators for covert target capture/elimination.
>160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers) – This legendary Army Special Operations aviation unit provides covert helicopter support for SOCOM/JSOC missionsThe “Night Stalkers” fly unmarked Black Hawks and Chinooks on stealthy night raids (e.g. the Bin Laden raid) and train intensely for high-risk clandestine insertions. Though not “paranormal”, 160th SOAR is notoriously secretive (unit details and patrols are classified)

> My wrestling co-coach in hs was in Vietnam, he was the most positive person I've ever meet, he was very motivating, positively stern in a loving way. After we lost a home match during the winter cause we where all high and lazy cause winter break was in a day.
> our couch who was a roided 4'5" Italian, instead of chewing us out had our co-coach tell us a story. We all sat in the locker room uncaring cause he wasn't the yelling type, he told us we gave up and he was disappointing, told us how lucky we where to not be at war.
> He went into his story about his time in Vietnam and went into brutal detail. We shut the fuck up and everyone was completely fixated on it. He always said he was a radio operator, but didn't tell us he was in MACV-SOG. He told us about all the insane shit he did, kill teams, special reconnaissance, spook shit that he did. Recounted a story of how giving up kills you in he long run, and kids my age where blown to bits and he had to carry back the bodies cause if they didn't america would have to get tangled in a war with other countries in the region.
> Said some insane shit that they could tell when they where fighting the Vietcong cause they where skinny as a rail and weren't well trained, but he recounted that he fought soviet special forces in Laos. That this was a war of pure hatred against them, and they had disdain for us. It was dirty and covered in black ink since neither side wanted to go to war with each other. But he said that the shit they did there was really fucked up... like torture, and that for his country he'd do it again.

The Comstock Commission. Officially, it was established within the US Post Office Department to enforce and comply with the Comstock Act, intended to stop 'obscene' materials relating to abortion, pornography, seditious rhetoric etc. In truth, however, it was the US' premier counter-occult body. While they're most famous for a couple of landmark cases, the mundane obscene materials addressed were more of a sideshow to the commission's real work of intercepting coded letters between secret societies and stopping the spread of satanic or otherwise occult materials through the postal service. Until 1993, the Comstock Room was held in the William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building, where they held trophies of various abortion pamphlets, bawdy show fliers, rebellious planning documents and such, but there was a second room which contained various occult artefacts deemed too edifying or instructional to be destroyed. Most were simple decrypted letters with known cyphers, ouija boards and other paraphernalia for demonstration purposes, but there were some locked away which contained items such as a carved idol from a time before European contact that depict images of Baphomet, a gold chalice used as a vessel in blood rites, an altar piece comprised of human finger bones and grimoires of supposed sorcerers. The Comstock Room's occult wing was regarded as an embarrassment by the ATF, who occupied the building at the time, and when the building underwent renovation, the entire collection simply vanished. No work orders filed, no donations made, and nothing found if it had been disposed of. The removal was only officially noticed around 1997, and the EPA who'd inherited the building had no idea the collection even existed in the first place. Having been missing for almost 5 years by that point, a few requests were information were made, a few calls put in with contractors, all of which turned up nothing. A century worth of material gone without a trace.

>Project Delta before it became Delta Force
Delta force has no actual relation to Project Delta despite Beckwith being involved with both of them. Project Delta was a reconnaissance unit while Delta force was anti-terror and hostage rescue unit. Beckwith was actually trying to get a Delta force unit stood up before he even went to Vietnam and took over Project Delta.

The names themselves are also coincidental. Project Delta was given its name as part of a project that gave it's parts greek letter codenames, with no relation to anything else. Delta Force was named such (1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta) because the Special Forces was already organized into Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie operational detachments. The new "Operational Detachment Delta" was supposed to camouflage it as some sort of support group to the Special Forces Command.

Veterans of Project Delta were actually organized into Blue Light, which was the temporary counterterror unit that covered the counter-terrorism role for the two years it took Delta Force to get organized and certified. The Blue Light guys actually had a good deal of antipathy towards Delta Force, although some were invited to try out after Blue Light was dissolved.

The NSA is underrated as far as glowies go, desu. Sure, they don't do the direct action stuff people like to fantasize about, but knowledge is power and their job has only grown in importance with the growing importance of the Internet.

On that subject, if any of you are familiar with [Case Title Redacted], one of the few publicly released Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court opinions, I recall it being a big deal to the court in that case that the NSA essentially confessed that the upstream surveillance program collected so much data even they didn't know what all they had. This seems like much less of an issue thanks to the sudden advent of large language models. Data you couldn't aggregate with humans is now easily accessible, making their fearsome data collection abilities even scarier, since they can sift it exponentially faster than they used to.

Vietnam *was* justified. Unfortunately, it was micromanaged by idiots and ended like you would expect given that circumstance.

The post-war compromise in the US was that the hippies would apologize for spitting on conscripts returning from the war, and the vets would agree that the war was pointless. This way the hippies get a half-victory in discrediting the war, while the vets get to never see another nasty portrayal of themselves in movies about the war, or really any subsequent war.

The truth, though is that no war is pointless. There is too much at stake for governments to just trip into one. That's cope for people who don't like how things turned out once it's over.
