Once well actualy get smart drones that can share targeting data and enchancs processing power amongst themself and therefor achieve an actual drone swarm.
How will war evolve after that?

Tech-priests in air conditioned cubicles directing swarms at one another. Anything the drones can't do, the (also automated) artillery will.

Imagine a RTS game, with all of the simplifications it makes.
>Every asset can identify everything in visual range instantly
>Every other asset instantly knows about it
>Every other asset instantly has a targetting solution on it
Now imagine two koreans playing it on super slow speed with pause at will
>Instant global decision making based on everything you know about your own and enemy assets
How does it play out? Different to normal war, but not all that hard to understand. Drones will become both an ubiquitous screen for detection and targets of opportunity, and a spam option for pushes in critical areas. Combat distances will increase, a large number of assets will remain at distances of up to 40km (drone and artillery range) with the inbetween covered by a thin screen of drones and infantry. The winner will be the one who has more assets and better AI and datalink - if one party actually manages to make all the simplifications reality and other doesn't, it will win.

Depends. How effectively can drones identify and kill drones?

The actually significant technological advancements usually happens in areas where you don't suspect them. Drone swarms haven't been demonstrated to have practical usefulness in a real war (compared to better alternatives), and there's no guarantee they ever will.
