Ah awesome this helps a lot thank you. Yes I assumed light primer strikes were the same thing essentially as hammer follow. It makes sense that a heavier buffer helps reduce bolt bounce, and so a heavier bolt could reduce LPS, while also potentially increasing the chance for hammer follow, even if hammer follow doesn't end up being an issue.
Local gun shop to me has Spikes T2 powdered weight buffers. I might try that.

Okay this post is making more sense, also the other anon helped by disambiguating hammer follow vs light primers strikes for me. That was my own misunderstanding. Heavier buffers reduce bolt bounce which reduces LPS via the mechanism you're describing with reduced firing pin head exposure during bolt bounce.

This is exactly the supposition that I'm claiming is not the case. The almost completely perfectly inelastic collision of the reciprocating mass at the rear of the receiver extension during cycling effectively decouples all of the motion of the rearward portion of the cycle from the forward portion.
But the issue is mainly already cleared up, because it was never that heavier buffers reduce hammer follow. They reduce bolt bounce which reduces LPS.
