Watching Warfare made me realize how mediocre the SEALs actually were. They act like basic soldiers and the only guy that actually looks like special forces is the Asian looking 2nd in command.

SF has had the same emphasis on gettings bodies through the programs as every other SOF unit. The result is that their vaunted legendary language standards started slipping during GWOT. They worked with interpreters the same as everyone else a lot of the time.

It's really weird how a choice 3-5 small fuckups between November 2001 and say March 2002 in Afghanistan fundamentally altered the trajectory of not just the entire campaign or US Military but the entire US as a nation. Had we accepted the surrender, had we not fucked up at Tora Bora, etc. Afghanistan might have been seen as a sideshow like Bosnia. What would it have been like had Tommy fucking Franks not let OBL get away? We could have put it behind us, so to speak, and I am always fascinated by what we would have done after that. Obligatory mention of the Howard Stern 9/11 broadcast and the SomethingAwful archives as well for being some of the most important cultural relics we've preserved to really capture that knife edge of national sentiment we found ourselves on.
