These guys are interesting because they're an example of irregular forces that are generally highly trained and disciplined. They're in a perpetual simmering civil war but both sides claim to be the legitimate international government, and both sides actually have a decent claim to legitimacy. So despite having been cut off from real military imports for well over a decade, they need to maintain both their international image and their actual combat effectiveness. Seeing them do assaults with these technicals is like night and day compared to the usual MENA technical combat nonsense.

Honestly the Ukrainian war has showed that Tractors are still absolutely useful in warfare.
Many think that just because they are unarmored civvie vehicles, they have no place in the battlefield but as long as you don't push them to the front line, they can do a surprising amount of good. I have regained some respect for the good old workhorses.

It's a WPK Guard unit that is associated with a large farm organization, of course they use the tractors.

The WPK Guard has a parallel national labor organization, you do military training every two Saturdays and the other two you do 'volunteer' labor service, in practice they are the same organization.

Since they have the same organizational structure there is no reason not to use available equipment for a local regional defense unit, it would be stupid not to.

I've been fighting in Syria in 2015, a few months with the Kurds of YPG. 95% of movement was done in the back of Toyotas, the rest in BMP-2s. I haven't ridden Toyotas into battle, only the BMP-2s, but i did operate a DHSK welded to the a Hilux to fire a few rounds at an ISIS infested village like 2-3 km from the village we had our position in. But only because i wanted to fire a DHSK from a technical desu, not because i was actually having a target. AMA

Another one we often saw was the tin umbrella.
grenade attacks were common so troops use to carry a metal umbrella. many thrown charges were not actually proper grenades, but pipe bombs which didn't have good frag, so if you hd the umbrella and deflected it, if might got off two meters away from you but just throw the end caps and you would be totally unharmed.
related was the parade mesh, a mesh shoot held up by pole bearers to stop grenade attacks on parades.

out there it's like if one guy does it and survives, he's in charge, everyone does it.

You know they say desperado, but they don't really understand what it means to be one, to go onto a battlefield with no ammo, no commander, no objective.
You just go out there and try to steal something, bring in prisoners, or achieve something noteworthy totally fluid situation.

They had all kinds of small arms with some interesting examples like a k-98, a few bastardized mosins, all kinds of sporting and hunting rifles, turkish shotguns, turkish army rifles and mp5s, that kind of stuff. But the technicals were pretty straight forward, 95% toyota hilux, some with different caliber DHSKs mounted to them.

I've seen those makeshift orc tanks that were famous back in the day twice, but never in action. even got to take a peek into one and shoot some photos, they must be somewhere in my apartment, not sure. I've posted them before over the years.
