Has that always been there or was that introduced in for the Series 80? The disconnector was always there so it must have been the momentum of the "free float" firing pin that made the original design drop unsafe. The toggle and locking lug design seems like something you can get away with a relatively low pressure cartridge as .45 ACP especially considering turn of the century smokeless powder back then but I imagine contemporary models chambered in 10x25 are beefed up in the frame and locking surfaces

Yes and no. P220 slides with barrels go for about tree fiddy, frames about $200 and parts kits for about $150. So for $700 you can have a P220. Cheaper than used current production P220s, more expensive than LE trade-ins if you can find the right deal.

Do it anon. I have a west German 226 my grandpa left me and a P226 elite I got a few years ago. Both are phenomenal pistols, super reliable consistent shooters, zero malfunctions in the 10k+ rounds I’ve put through them. Training around the DA/SA transition will make you a better shooter and it’s not as daunting as it’s made out to be. Sigs Scorpion grips, while very expensive, are the most comfortable grip I’ve felt on any pistol.

Only a few specific guns are damaged by dryfire, if you are worried, put a snap cap or a spent casing in the chamber.

I think dry firing the DA pull for a while will help you hold the dot steady though the entire trigger pull. The SA pull while important to train doesn’t teach you as much as a DA pull.

Dryfire practice is the most important training you can do, it eliminates the need to go to a range and shoot 25 cent ammo. It allows you to train the trigger pull and follow through separated from the recoil and noise. Dry fire WILL fix your flinch problem.

Recoil anticipation is kind of always going to be a thing, be it flinching because loud noise scary or you start programming yourself to shoot rapid fire and anticipate your next shot at a .13 split putting the muzzle downwards for the next round. The second one isn’t that much of an issue, but recoil issues evolve as you get better

Dry fire with a proper follow through, dry fire is only helpful if it gets applied to your actual shooting technique. Dry fire inbetween magazines at the range, make sure your technique you shoot with is what you’re doing when you’re dry firing.

Practicing the DA pull of a DA/SA only in dry fire will also leave training scars. It’ll make you think all trigger pulls are DA so you’re second shot you pull low expecting the DA pull that’s not there. So make sure you practice both, when dry firing DA/SA you can mimics the SA pull on the dead DA trigger - you don’t let it fully reset. Pull DA and then bring the finger out to roughly where the SA trigger should reset and dry fire from there. Ben Stoeger randomly mentioned that in a video unrelated to DA/SA and it really helped my dry fire

Annoyed that it's so hard to find CZs to rent to test. I want to buy a CZ to carry, I like the cz 75 compact which my local shop has a used one so I could hold it, but I know there are other ones like the cz 75 D, the newer cz p01 and the cz p10.

Red dots make shooting much easier. It’s super easy putting the red dot on the target and pulling the trigger without having to align the front and rear sights. Shooting at speed means just getting the red dot back on target.
