A build is something constructed to taste or changing specs. Like how in construction a build is a house built custom rather than prefab or to HOA spec. Or in software a build is the current tweaked iteration of a program. With guns where parts can be changed out with changing preferences, build is also appropriate.

I’m all for innovation and firearms/ammunition/optics development, and I understand that the civilian market in large part makes it all possible, but that’s not what the industry is feeding its customers.
