I want to upgrade my concealed carry
Title says it all. I want to upgrade my daily carry because, due to increased homicides/violent crime in my area, I no longer feel like it is sufficient to defend myself and break contact. In fact, I've noticed it's nearly impossible to break contact in some of the murders out here because there's multiple people burglarizing someone in a small neighborhood, and they seem to travel in packs. Our deputy sheriff said it's more dangerous to be armed because they'll want to steal your firearm too, and it may entice them to use lethal force to do so.

I don't trust striker guns, and I'm not really into polymer either. I want a double stack, insanely reliable firearm I can trust my life with. Preferably steel framed. I love the idea behind the cz75 rami bd, but I guess it's hard to find a used one at a reasonable price because they stopped making them.

I also want my daily carry to be available as a home defense gun, and ideally as my primary home defense gun while other guns are put in the safe. I'd simply carry it around with me at home, it is what it is, times are changing here.

why not have a dedicated home defense gun? trying to find a one size fits all approach means youre going to be making compromises. your current gun looks good for concealed carry, for home defense you could get a full size handgun or even a long gun

Beretta 84. 13 round capacity of .380. Reliable and still compact. The frame safety is top notch and ambidexterous. It can fit a pocket just fine and would do well in home defense. I've got one and a beretta 81 which is the same thing but in .32 acp. These are freat because they're $350 on classic firearms. When they're gone you'll only be able to find one for no less than $500 or so. Get it now while ya can!

Browning Hi Power. 15+1 9mm. Nice single action trigger. Designed to be carried cocked and locked. Slimmer than a glock 19, and just a hair longer. Weight is about the same. This has been the CCW meta since 1935. There is a DA/SA version as well for pussies that won't carry a cocked single action.

That depends. Are you willing to spend $800 or whatever the hell they are for basically the same thing. The only big difference is the optic cutout. Generally I recommend people carry a cheaper gun, provided it is reliable and of good quality, because if something does happen and the police confiscate it then you won't be out your super expensive pistol that you *may* never see again.

I'm really just hoping the prices are summer sucker/tard pricing. We have:
>$800 Colt flat top (~$700 got you one with an EO back in winter IIRC)
>$600 M4 RRA (I bought a not shit M4 style AR made by a big gun company for $500 with some nice furniture used not 10 years ago at a gun show FWIW)
>$700 RRA (neat but still RRA)
>$230 used RRA lower (lolwut)
>$800 M4 style Colt (nothing special, see point 2)
>$1k for the same but ooh old weaponlight and detachable carry handle)
>$600 RRA that looks like maybe HBAR?
>$700 RRA because ooh fixed carry handle M4 style
>$500 Windham 14.5 P&W that might be a pretty good deal; isn't Windham okay?
>$500 DPMS with a quadrail, might not be a bad choice, SS barrel
>$500 WW with a folding front sight and quadrail, might also be a good choice
>$700 RRA with funny upper =))))
It's like they realized they were actually pricing the Colts at a reasonable price and went fuck it we need to price them 1.5-2x as much, fuck the customer. And here I thought I'd be able to get an EOTech Colt or at least one with a fixed carry handle upper for what they were going for last winter. Believe it or not a local gun show had a rack of them at AIM prices and you could pick them up and look them over before buying. Like $550 maybe.

Just get a P365/CSX/Hellcat. They're all in the same size class as your 938, so carrying will be easy and natural.
With double the capacity of the 938.

They all also have extended mags you can carry as your spare, if it makes you feel better.

And if that's still not enough capacity, the P365 and Hellcat both have a larger version. Two sizes up for the 365 even.

They are not. I have an 80x. Besides the optic cut, the 80x has a vertec frame without the palm swell, magazine extensions to go to 15 rounds, a phenomenal upgraded trigger, and a picatinny rail.

And they definitely aren't $800 any more, I got mine for just over $500 at bass pro.

Personally, I would get the 84 if I was strapped for cash and not upgrading it, or planning on collecting. $299 is probably just over half of what they will be worth once supply dries up. But if I wanted something to burn a ton 380 comfortably, some upgradability and could afford something $5-600, and 80x is a good move.

I think that's wayyyyyyy different from paying $600 for an otherwise normal RRA that never saw much use at bumbfuckville PD where it may have never had any bugs ironed out. That I would probably buy. The extras and source alone bring it from a $500 rifle up to $850 easily IMO.

Never underestimate the stupidity of your typical 'shoot once a year for qualification' type cops. They don't, nor know how to, clean and service their guns. There was an anon on a threads way back that claimed to be a former armorer for a police department. Said nearly everyone didn't clean their guns, know how, or could even do a basic field strip. Any firearm, regardless of their rep, needs to be serviced now and then. Plus you see more glock cop videos because more departments use them compared to other good guns like M&P, etc.

>>64011913

10+1 rounds (+2 with ext. mag) of 380 that's on the upper end of pocketable and shoots very well for its size, especially compared to its direct competitors

If you want something in 9mm then this is a non-starter But in terms of 380 pocket pistols I think its one of, probably the best out there.

As far as .380s go? It's easily top of its class. It has a 10+1 capacity and the grip is a decent bit bigger than other handguns despite being smaller than many other micro compacts with lower capacity. It's actually big enough for me to wrap all of my fingers around without hanging off, which combined with low bore axis+high grip placement makes recoil very easy to control.
Of course, if you want a 9mm or higher caliber that's a different discussion. Never shot the Springfield Hellcat but it looks good on paper.

but I guess it's hard to find a used one at a reasonable price because they stopped making them.

Options would be
CZ Rami
CZ75 Compact
Beretta 92 Compact

the thing about it (irrespective of striker-fired or caliber chambering) is that, Smith & Wesson somehow managed to make a tiny semiauto that can actually be fully 3-finger grasped by small to medium sized hands, and that also points and shoots like a normal compact or full size handgun. It's just really tiny, probably the best tiny semiauto of the past 80 years

Not really the same category. The 80X might be a better shooter but it's significantly larger and heavier, plus it's a hammer+metal frame vs a plastic striker.

Got one for the wife as a purse gun. It impressed me so much I bought myself one and is now my daily carry.

Two things to look out for though:
1: initial batches sometimes had a small imperfection "ledge" on the feed ramp. It's very easy to spot so just take a look to make sure the one you're buying doesn't have it, or just get it filed down.
2: The sights are not lined up out of factory. Needed to get both mine and my wife's fixed but that was only ~$20 at my local range

After that it's incredible

Well I can safely say I didn't recommend it because my experience with the Star BM left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth towards Star. The steel is just something else. Maybe it's just the refurbed guns that have issues but mine broke a barrel link in the first mag. The one reviewer I watched had the same happen to him. I fit a new US made barrel link only for the slide stop crosspin to bend next. Maybe my recoil spring needed replacing but that seems excessive for a gun that I haven't put 50 rounds through. Maybe Star's commercial guns were better but fuck me did I get screwed by buying a surplus BM.

I'm not the biggest fan of the 80x's flat ass. Funny enough I like it on the 92 Vertecs but the 80x, I think, needs a little bit of an ass to it like the old 84s. The safety also just sits in a weird position for my finger on the 80x; I think I'd like the original 84s better (B/BB). Obligatory NTA/not OP, I just happened to be shopping for an 84 recently. I was also surprised at just how small the 80xs are once I got one in hand; I figured they'd be a hair bigger.

Yeah, I have a launch edition and it’s uncomfortable to shoot two handed. You can buy wrap around grips but they’re pricey and it’s gay you have to buy them if you’re a man. I swear they designed this gun for women. Like the PDP-F but they didn’t say the quiet part out loud.

It's funny because the 21A (tiny) seems pretty comfy from my limited range time. I haven't been able to track down an old 84 in person but the 80x is easy as you just go to a large chain gun store. I must have some in-between hand size because the 92FS feels better vertec but the 80x (vertec) is too small. The 84 non vertec will probably fit just right but the 21A (non-vertec, way tinier) is also comfy. Maybe that's why I can never find gloves that fit. Either way, unfortunately I'm going to have to put my want for an 84 off a little bit. The imports come in batches, though, so I don't think I'm totally fucked if I miss this batch.

As for the 92s, I think maybe they should've just had dovetailed backstraps with a screw to attach like plenty of other handguns do (albeit mostly polymer ones). Slide in from bottom, screw to secure. Yes then they have to make two backstraps but it would make everyone happy when it comes to vertec/no vertec. Change from one to the other with a backstrap and a new set of grip panels in like 5 minutes. Beretta, if you're listening, I'll give that idea for free. I already have a strong suspicion that I influenced a small company to make a product (via posts here) I swear to god no one else ever even mentioned once lol. Though injection molded TPU (?) grips with a wraparound rear are probably way cheaper and easier in the long run.

Kal-tec P32. I like mine. it is the prefect pocket pistol. you can get a good pocket holster and wear it with shorts and no shirt as well. no one even knows you have it. It is not a distance gun though. good for up close and personal. from 0 -10 feet.

I've owned both and sold the 80X after the BG2.0 came out. The Bodyguard flat out shoots better than the Cheetah, hands down. I couldn't believe it at first, but it's really all in the recoil system, not the weight. The 80X is punchy, not as bad as an 84, but there's only so much they can do with direct blowback. The short recoil tilting barrel in the BG makes it shoot like a full size gun. It's actually fun to practice with, I can't say that about any other .380. I wanted to love the Cheetah but it's just not that great.

oh yeah it'll never drop to 9mm levels because of nato, but i think it'll end up like 223 v 556 where the civilian market just goes full into 380 because it's easier to conceal and most people aren't open carrying nowadays.

it's way more concealable though. basically an underwear gun that you can shoot out to 25y, with a round that is way less gimped than 22/25/32. if it expands it's frighteningly close to 9mm, and from what i've seen the expansion with modern ammo is pretty reliable

cz shadow compact carry,

glock19ish sized cz 75 with all the best feautres, you can put a reddot and light on there.

smith and wesson CSX if you want something small but hammer fired, no ability to mount a light tho.

Your sheriff is a faggot pussy, most of the time even packs of criminals go running when they receive fire, they want easy targets.

IMO go with the shadow CZ, alternatively you can look at some of FNS hammer fired options but they may be a bit big.

The only other viable options will be things like bul armory 2011s or some sort of beretta with your stipulations, unless you wanna go down to a 380 beretta doesnt make any good guns imo because of the dogshit safety.
