Hasn't the USMC already started requiring Israeli carry for the MHS? Why haven't the other branches followed suit? It's a much cheaper solution than buying new guns, it would completely solve all of these problems, and handguns don't matter anyway. The vast majority of all service pistols in history haven't been drop safe, I don't get why everyone's throwing a fit over it now.

If an officer can't carry a rifle he isn't combat effective and has no place in the military. Medics would probably be one of the limited uses if only for morale purposes and typically medics are more responsible than the average person who is issued a side arm.

The modularity is a retarded meme and is one of the many parts of why the P320 is shit. Just like the Stoner 63, virtually only the belt-fed LMG variant was significant and appreciated, and it would have been a better gun if it had been strictly focused on being only that.
Just have a second handgun if needed.

The problem is that its predecessor was, and the problem goes even further than drop safety considering that spontaneous AD inside of holsters a known occurrence. Even if the 1911 wasn't drop safe, it didn't have that problem and would at least be (mostly) safe in a holster.

That's a fucking band-aid solution to a MASSIVE problem.

The original purpose of the IDF carrying handguns with empty chambers was that they weren't Jew Rich yet and mostly armed themselves with widely disparate WW2 surplus, meaning they had probably 30 different pistols in inventory.
Thus, they had to figure out a single manual of arm to teach which would apply to ANY of the different pistols, which was any safeties off, chamber empty, full mag, then rack on the draw, and you could do this to ANY automatic pistol they had and it should do the same thing, minimizing the chances of the accidental maiming and killing of conscripts.

This isn't an approach which a modern and professional military with standardized arms should need to take, this is SHAMEFUL.

There are 100K plus people in the US military who carry them, the vast majority don't need them or should carry a rifle.

>quick math
My first unit had 8 officers, every one of which would is exposed to a combat situation. Not a single one carried a rifle (or much of anything) despite easily being capable of doing so. So you had 2/3rds of a squad who were utterly useless operationally since in the field on a company level US units don't actually need officers.

Literally who even cares? Handguns aren't weapons, they're badges of office. If all handguns in all branches of the military were required to be carried condition 4 at all times, even in combat, it would have exactly 0 impact on the combat readiness of any unit, much less the military as a whole. I don't see how this is any worse than all of the yuro armies that don't even let their soldiers touch real magazines unless they're being deployed.

Look, I'm not a sigger shill. I'm a stop wasting money on stupid bullshit shill. They should have kept the M9 and just stopped practicing with them so they wouldn't have to replace the worn-out frames. But since they bought the MHS, they shouldn't now buy something compeletely new, they should just stop doing the thing that makes them go off for no reason (chambering a cartridge).

This is nonsense. I'll take it you weren't either an officer or an NCO, since you're so detached from their work like this.
>The water will be purified, the cargo will be hauled and the food will be cooked
Who what when where why? It's the job of the officers to actually link this daily normative action to a bigger whole and to ensure it keeps happening in exceptional circumstances, to report it further and ensure the actions have some actual meaning, to ensure the commander's intentions are actually worked towards and so bridge the gap between the company CO and the NCOs in their own platoon.
>Ones that require a handgun are rare and the majority (MPs) only really use them stateside in peacetime.
It's not a requirement but a benefit. Having to haul around a service rifle when you're not in a combat or a combat support role (PDWs preferred in the latter) is just pointless.

Let's not forget that they "accidentally" miscolored the first batch of M17s safety and takedown levers causing them to be rejected by the army so they said "oops sorry" and turned around and sold those pistols as "military surplus" on the market as a premium. If SIG is to be believed the 320 became the second most sold pistol on the market after they won. They also claim that it is the "most tested pistol of all time" yet it can easily be made to shoot on it's own with a little wear to it's Indian MIM parts so idk if I trust anything (((Cohen))) says with his bullshit marketing. Google it. Fucker said something like "It's not that hard, just give me a cheque, I'll go to Cabelas and buy some pistols." And then did massively cut down trials and picked this pistol. Kekw.

Haha he almost certainly thought he was making the right call. Think about how many people here complain about procurement being too expensive and taking too long, and pistols are some of the least important and simplest items in inventory, so he probably thought he was helping to cut through the bullshit. But yeah, absolute clanger of a call and I'm amazed that no one was bringing it up before I did just now, given the ideological hatred half the board has for him. I am so tired of the modularity meme.
What the military meant in regards to modularity was being able to change the grip for different hand sizes. By this definition, the Glock 19X and Beretta M9A4 are MORE modular than the NIG Saar P320, because you can swap out grips/backstraps easily and for less money than getting another whole ass grip module.
Once the modularity meme was overcome by Beretta designing some wraparound grips and Glock having backstraps, they had to bullshit up other faggot shit like the gun needs to come with its own custom ammo and SIG dropped the price of each unit to cost so they're probably sub-$200 apiece. The game was rigged from the start.
We went from the most rigorous handgun testing trials in the history of mankind to choose the M9, to some mysterious bullshit where new criteria keeps appearing to slant the balance towards SIG until everyone gave up and SIG decided to just hand the military the guns FOR FREE. Pure faggotry.

Yes mate. You'll notice that I called him a dipshit, a fucker and a retard, and said that his decision making on MHS showed shockingly poor judgement.

But also the evidence that he's a traitor doesn't even amount to something it would be fair to describe as hearsay, and would probably be most accurately called very creative interpretation of events that got a lot of airtime.

And, on the other hand, I don't think you'll find many people who will do 43 years of (well decorated, almost like people thought he did a pretty good job) uniformed military service while actually being a traitor who hates the country and the service.

Finally, the shit with Milley fit into a clear pattern of behaviour from the source of all the vitriol with Milley (who also appointed him) and the other data points in that pattern are also people who, no matter how much I might think they're self-impressed wankers, definitely don't seem like turncoats etc, like Mattis.

The common factor in all the people in (((that guy's))) first administration who he smeared as traitors wasn't that there was decent evidence that they were traitors, it's that they were the people with the balls to tell him that he was doing dumb shit when he was. Pretty low bar for the word, but whatever.

But whatever mate, I'm sure you get news blasted at you 24/7 that's pretty much purpose designed to control your thoughts and make you dismiss what I've said because I must be a pinko or suffering from TDS or whatever for saying it.

In case you aren't aware the P320 has had hundreds of revisions since production started - alot more than just the mere drop safety fix - and these issues still persist on new guns because it is a fundamentally flawed design and very little is holding that fully cooked striker back

the problem is arbitrary military shit about what constitutes the firearm and how those have to be handled when it comes to replacement. When the whole frame is the serialized part that's a lot of shit that can wear out and if any of it does it's more paper/manpower on the logistics side of things. It's part of the reason you end up with notoriously finicky clapped out handguns in the military, they're trying to get as much life as they can out of the frame which just about everything interacts with. That's why they want to have the "firearm" be the smallest and most swappable that it can be. I don't think the Sig is the best realization of a solution for that(quite the opposite), but they definitely do want modularity.

I've been telling people the M250 was a giant piece of shit for a long, long time. Glad it's finally coming to light. It got old as fuck seeing the same cope.
>Well, the M7 might be a garbage rifle, but the 250 is the best MG ever made, so that makes up for it!

There's this ridiculous notion propagated by trash guntuber slop (like Lucas botkin) who got to tour nu-SiG and fire the XM250 - that it's actually GOOD and the SAW was trash.

>The M250 is ripping 2 part cases in two, covering the internals in gunpowder and stopping the cycle of operations
>belt links for some fucking reason keep finding their way behind the bolt either locking up the action or interfering with the trigger.
Runaway guns reports are common
>Jamming
>Overheating, poor heat dissipation
>rail system too thin - bending and breaking
>killing optics
>Almost double the combat load of a M249 gunner.

We could have always gotten new Mk.46's - new recievers and no shit-ass stanag backup magwell. There was also the EVOLVYS - which would have allowed us to keep 5.56 but also barrel change/bolt face swap to 6.8x51 & 7.62 NATO.

M250 is fucking trash and every nigger who suggests otherwise needs to hang until they die.
I just hope to God M17/M18 blowing up like this and eventually becoming a national MSM story puts light on the M7 and M250 and we stop this bullshit

All the Army meant by "modularity" is the ability to change grip size. That's it. It has nothing to do with swapping slides and other stuff around.

I know, fat grips are a big problem ever since the TT-33. As i'm sure you can imagine given my previous statements i have controversial opinions about pistols. For the majority of the force currently issued pistols i think they should have rifles instead.

yeah, the 4 rules exist to force marines to loudly and visibly demonstrate safety so they can be effectively policed on the firing line by only a handful of RSOs, that's all they're good for

Fundamentally? There really wasn't, but it was all the same old pistols and they were getting really old and clapped out, so they needed replacement regardless, be that with new Beretta pistols or something else.

Yeah being worn put and gimped by a backup STANAG mag feed source.
The Mk.46 dispensed with the mag well and was belt fed only.
The Army should have bought 30k-60k brand new fresh reciever Mk.46 as an interim solution it would have given us a solid 15-25 years for NGSW to get more fleshed out and future tech like caseless and polymer to develop.
We went full fucking retard with a 2 piece ammo design that offers absolutely no weight savings because we had to be hi pressure because US can't into Tungsten penetrators like RU/CCP.
We should have a semi caseless pokymer round slinging DU - which we have no shortage of but big army dumb and palms needed to be greased
