And THC metabolites last a very long time in the body, the test would not show when anon was intoxicated. There's no way anyone would know if you were high at the time or if you took it days before.

awful and ignorant advice. you are speaking about carboxy-THC which stays in the system for a long time, not THC. THC is metabolized fast but if present is an indicator of recent weed use.
a blood test can reveal thc concentration which prosecutors have used to prove impairment in dui cases, blood or piss but usually blood is drawn. the only gray area with it right now is it cant distinguish between a lot of weed from hours ago or a little weed an hour ago, in either case they will prove you were intoxicated at the time.

You have plenty of time to call up a lawyer, explain what happened, figure out a defense strategy, get time off from work or figure out some kind of furlough, and most importantly clean out your system of any drugs. Maybe a week later get a knock on your door to get escorted to the station.

I don't think there's anything remotely legally questionable about contacting authorities via telephone while actively seeking some sort of safe area to either wait in or like bunker down so you can be promised that your head won't be blown the fuck off

if you don't have a phone it would be assumed that the first thing you'd be trying to do when "safe" is contact 911 and start getting a recording of what happened and where while it's fresh in your mind and to reiterate that you have disarmed yourself and are in a "safe" location etc etc. If you just leave and don't IMMEDIATELY call the cops or some form of authority figure you will get butt fucked it court for sure.
