How did Sig manage to fuck up over 100 years of previously established technology?

My $350 Citadel is mine, thing has just chugged .45acp since I got it like 10+ years ago. Strangely enough I have a buddy that got the same gun, from the same store, at the same time period, and had to do significant work to it to get it running reliably.

How? They bribed their way into the adoption, hence why they got both a shitty and demonstrably dangerous pistol, and an excessively shitty rifle adopted back to back. It's very clearly a case of corruption. I do believe that we should readopt the 1911, perhaps in 9mm just to make ammo logistic easier, or perhaps adopt what really should've won the trials, the Beretta M9A4. 1911 is the true American choice, but the M9A4 is a good substitute.

Absolutely. All the Turk hate comes from their inability to create a good shotgun, but their forged 1911s go fucking hard.
All the assblasted Greekoids can seethe in the (You)s, but should really pay back their denbts.

Their handguns are made to milspec, the long gun market in Turkey is a mixed bag. Their HK clones are made with original HK machinery, so they're good, other stuff is questionable. It really depends on the gun. Embrace the Turkish 1911, it's even been embraced by the Civilian Marksmanship Program here in the states, so that's more than enough to verify that they're good. I got my Tisas for $400, then everyone started putting them on sale for $300, but even at the $400 price tag I'm very happy with it.

Now I'm wondering what would be the difference between a 1911 in 9mm NATO and a browning high power in the same, besides the HP having more ammo in the mag.

As someone who owns both a Hi-Power and a 1911, they're both awesome, but I prefer the HP a little more. Like the other anon said, they're Double Stack, and if you remove the magazine safety they have an amazing trigger pull..

You may want to spring for the ASF version, it's got a parkerized finish instead of cerakote and is an excellent copy of a later production Remington Rand. Overall they're great, especially for the price, and the only thing that's lackluster on them are the springs, the thumb safety plungers, and occasionally the meg-gar mags they ship with them.

Add a spring kit from a reputable brand, a wilson plunger, and a couple springfield mags for a few bucks and you're pretty much set.

1911 really is the best pistol, but finding one off the shelf with good fitment and blending is such a crapshoot. I had to go to three different Academies to fingerfuck stainless Springfield Garrisons until I found one that wasn't a rattletrap. The one I bought shoots like a dream, but the slide-to-frame fitment is so tight that I can't disassemble it. I'll probably have to whack it apart with a rubber mallet or swallow my pride and send it back to Springfield for warranty work. It's starting to malfunction after about 800 rounds thought it, and all I can do it squirt Ballistol and white lithium grease on it and hope for the best. It sucks because I wanted to carry it. The trigger and recoil impulse from a 5" steel 1911 is so nice compared to some plastic piece of crap like the USP.

I have a Tisas/SDS 1911, its been great. I picked up an Inglis Hi Power clone the other day, I think they're made and imported by the same company. It's been solid as well. Turks are doing fine with pistols, at least the copies of established designs. Makes sense, since neither 1911s nor Hi-Powers are particularly complex nor require exotic materials to produce. Just billet steel, cnc machines that require no particular skill on the part of the operator, same with heat treating. It's all done with machines that are simple to run. The only human interaction needed is in assembly, and if it can be done by 80 IQ grunts in the middle of a jungle it can be done by 81 IQ Turks in a factory.

Attempted to ask in /hg/ but they're being spergs or something so ill ask here:
Whose 1911s are worth buying? I don't see a lot of people praising Colt nowadays. I'd preferably like something that comes with an optic cut so im ready for WW3.

Tisas if you're on a budget. Springfield or Colt for midrange between $700 and $1500. Above that are semi-custom and full custom like Wilson, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, etc. Springfield is way ahead of modernizing the 1911 compared to Colt which is why most people don't really praise Colt anymore. You pretty much buy a Colt just so you can say you have a Colt.

If youโ€™re willing to pay Colt money, then youโ€™re almost at the price point of used DWs and above. DW and Springfield TRP have optic cut guns.

The closer you get to 2k the closer you get to used Wilson Combats, Les Baers, Nighthawks sometimes, etc hunting for a used high end gun is a lot more fun then buying a production gun
