Revolvers are objectively the best CCW.

1. a CCW is a last resort. You should have situational awareness and be able to run away the vast majority of the time.

2. in a scenario where you're cornered and have to use a CCW, you're going to be so stressed that a malfunction or accidentally pressing the mag release is highly likely and will get you killed.

You’re more likely to miss your 5-6 shots or fail to stop the target than you are to accidentally press the mag release. DA revolvers are not the easiest to shoot accurately, especially the snub noses that you’d be carrying. They’re also kind of thick which makes them not ideal for conceal carry.

Hell, being in contact range and the slide being out of battery due to a physical altercation is a much bigger worry for me as far as autoloaders having an issue in a self defense situation. I know I'd reach to jam that shit if if it was being pulled on me.

That said, nothing wrong with a light revolver as a back-up gun. Keep the ammo capacity, yadda yadda, in the main one. One or two good contact shots from a 38 or even 22lr will get about anyone off of you.

But there are a great multitude of documented real world incidents that happen every year where people use a gun to defend themselves. In all my years of searching, I still haven't found a single recorded case of an average Joe failing to defend himself because he only had 5-6 rounds. A small frame revolver will be good for 99% of likely self defense situations.
A glock 19 with extra magazines likely won't even be enough for the remaining 1%, so just carry whatever you can conceal, will actually carry every day, and will practice with.

Because most cops only shoot once or twice a year when they qualify, and that's it, and are dumb to boot. Literally, police exams in the US have an upper score that they will not hire you for scoring above, and the courts have backed departments on this. See: Jordan v. The City of New London, Connecticut.

I've never, once, hit my mag release on addicent, including during competitions, which are about the best way to artificially induce stress while shooting safely, and those are normal button mag releases. I've only seen it happen less than a handful of times, too, and it's almost always on conpetition guns that have been run hard and had parts (mag releases and catch slots in mags) wear out. Not only that, some semiautos, like most HKs and older plastic frame Walthers, make it literally impossible to do while holding the gun properly with your middle finger applying constant pressure to the mag release in the opposite direction needed to drop a mag.

It takes some getting used to but they're not that bad to shoot. The small j frame sized guns are painful though. But I can get that first cylinder off accurately lol. I carry an aluminum in frame when pocket carrying. I'll sometime carry a k frame iwb for the memes though too.
