Would you ever buy a rifle in 6.5 creedmoor?

Yeah. It's like 260, but with better internal ballistics and availability.

no, probably not unless every other cartridge becomes a unicorn round impossible to find that costs an arm and a leg to shoot.

The most common .473 cartridge in existence? Obviously. The ammo is cheap, plentiful, more accurate and with a higher BC than 308. 308 lost it's cost advantage by 2015 when match grade ammo was $1/round for 308 and 6.5 creedmoor. Now the basic ammo is the same price and more accurate. If you've already got 308 then just use it until you need to change barrels then go to 6.5 creedmoor. It took decades to move from 30-06 to 308 just like it's taken 2 decades to move from 308 to 6.5 creedmoor. The transition will continue moving forward.

I don't get how when there was the big 6.5creed vs 308 debate, T/C didn't take advantage of their 30TC round which is basically the best of both. Somehow they managed to make it a failed round (woman marketing team perhaps)

There's basically no reason to get a 6.5CM when it's ammo is so much more expensive than .308. A .308 can handle hunting, urban sniping and home defense if you SBR it.

It's also much, much easier to get armor piercing .308 ammo.

High quality .308 is for when you want more accuracy. But unlike with 6.5CM, .308 lets you dip down into garbage tier, cheapass FMJ ammo, for training and such.

For training what? If you're just burning shit ammo that doesn't let you push your limits, it's not really saving you any money. Buy good components in bulk and reload.

Well lets see. What are the characteristics of shit ammo?

>Not accurate
That's about it. So you can use it out to 100 yards and not notice a difference. Good for CQB training and surprise malfunction drills.

6.5 has its advantages, especially for longer range shooting. If you want a semi auto in something larger than 5.56 I would stick to 308. You are already taking the weight/size hit, so you might as well go for the more powerful cartridge. The reduced recoil of 6.5 is less of an advantage in a gas operated gun where recoil is softer anyway. Plus you can get mags and practice ammo for cheaper in 308.

6.5 fills a niche as a slightly better round for target shooting and hunting.

>Would you ever buy a rifle in 6.5 creedmoor?
In a bolt gun? Long since. It's superior in every single way to 308 AND it's cheaper. Which is crazy to see happen so fast but it did. I'm going to enjoy noguns on /k/ exposing themselves for ages to come though by mindlessly repeating "meme caliber" like >>64060573 that fag lol.

In a battle rifle? Eh probably not. 308 has interesting loads available that 6.5 still doesn't and might never, higher numbers of interesting guns, the extra barrel life matters much more in a br, and I really don't give a shit about >350yd in a BR. 1.5-2.5moa is plenty good enough to have a good time.
