It's more that it's inletted (is that the right word?) into the tang of the receiver than anything. Just cool for the sake of being cool when practically having it on top is not much if any worse. You can get tang mounted peeps but that? No way anyone makes an aftermarket part like that; it has to be custom or modified off the shelf if you'd want it done today.

yeah, most of the manlickers I saw had the peeps attacked to the rear of the receiver but you could fold them down. Only saw 2 with them inlet into the wood and they looked like they were expensive when they were made in like 1920
