I've never felt the need to even threaten the use of lethal force against an individual, but if I were to kill someone I don't think it would affect me the way it apparently does most people. If someone forced me to kill him, I'd probably be upset enough about it that I'd want to kill him again, not mope about how I should have let him kill me instead.

I threw away an alcoholic black guy’s clothes that he left on the ground (my job as a maintenance/cleaner of the facility) at a bus station. He came back all pissed off so I got it out of the trash for him. Then he started threatening me and yelling so I just walked off.
I felt like I could have killed him without much holding me back if I had a gun and he assaulted me.

The act of killing would be easy, could do it in my sleep. What makes me anxious is all the stuff around it, what if I fuck up my monolog, or what if I cant get to my cue cards in time and have to go off memory; or if they don't cry and beg for their lives and instead just laugh at me? It's never come down to it so I don't know. It's also a bit different having to beat a junkie to death with a chair to defend yourself versus just shooting a 155mm howitzer at a target 20 kilometers away and not being sure if you just bisected someone.

It's similar. With an animal, you'll have to deal with its corpse, and with a human it could fuck your life up legally and mentally. Disengaging if you can is often the best option in both cases.

I could do it on instinct and training as a last resort but it would still bother me a lot after the adrenaline and I don't think I could just do it as an order in the army. I also think it's good that I feel this way. Killing should be disturbing.

I have no desire to kill or even hurt a human being with or without a gun, and I'm reluctant to harm animals, even insects. I sure hope I'll never have to kill a man. But I've worked first hand on war matters (notably Irak/Syria, hence EI atrocities), I've been assaulted by urban ferals with obvious murderous intents, i've read about organized pedo rings, and i've seen grown pakindians visibly lusting after my very young white kids in the middle of the street. In short, I'd kill in a heartbeat to protect my family, I have absolutely zero doubt about that. I'm prepared to it to some extent. To me, you can't be a father if you are not willing to neutralize any threat to the your kin.
