I’m being indecisive so fuck it I’ll see what y’all think.
Looking for a dedicated home defense gun that I can buy/build 2 identical copies of and hide on opposite ends of the house. I currently just keep a couple of my shotguns loaded in various locations, but full power 12ga loads are way too much for my 100lb wife to handle . I’m looking for something that she can easily use without sacrificing lethality
My requirements are:
>maximum lethality with minimal chance of over penetration (yea I know you can’t entirely mitigate over pen and “just got gud” these are still characteristics I’m looking for)
>preferably high capacity
>low-moderate recoil
>easy to operate/load(preferably AR levels of easy)
>able to mount a flashlight
>compact (short barrel, preferably still with a stock or brace)
>under $1k per gun
My current considerations are:
>braced micro draco using SP/HP
>braced AR pistol using SP/BSP
>Some kind of PCC likely in .45auto with HP rounds
>a compact pump or semi auto 12 or 20ga shotgun (probably have to sbs it) with something like #4 buck

I’m not really interested in going with a handgun since maximum concealability isn’t the priority and I don’t mind trading some maneuverability for ease of use and accuracy.

I think an AR pistol is your best bet if you need your wife to use it. Also 7.62x39 pens like a MF.

PCC is probably best bet desu. Lower risk of over penetration, won't blow your ears out like a shotgun. Also invest in a suppressor

AR pistol is the best choice given all your requirements. Doesn't entirely tick the 'minimal overpen' box but nor does anything outside of birdshot, just choose the best rounds you can.

Federal or Fiocchi reduced recoil loads for the 12ga. As I recall, it sacrifices 1 pellet and rolls put the muzzle at 1000fps instead of 1300 fps. So it's like shooting someone 8 times with an 9mm rather than 9 times with a .357. Or get 20ga instead. Plenty of solid 000 and 4 buck loads for a 20ga. Though tpu will likely have less felt recoil in the 12ga reduced recoil loads rather than 20ga standard loads, due to lower pressure and a heavier gun. Or slap braces and suppressors on a couple AR pistols you build for $320 each when PSA puts their complete uppers and lowers on sale. Or just get a couple model 10s, put one in the night stand and one in a kitchen drawer and call it good. Getting different ammo for the 12ga is the cheapest course of action.

The problems are not making a gun, that is actually easy. The problem is after you use it even if it is in absolute self defense. You are unlikley to have any witnesses. Now you have dead bodies killed with an illegally made firearm.

You will go to jail for the rest of your life inevitabily when the court hears you killed people with home made guns. The prosecution will dance all over you and start talking about ambushing, premeditated etc etc

Your shotguns are pretty much ideal, vastly mor elethal and effective than handguns but also as innoculous as firearms can get and legally held.
