>>64069812 (OP)Combination of contrarianism, CZ quality slipping (finish/fitment/trigger return springs snapping) and their prices climbing substantially. I think it being associated with Reddit hipsters really stoked the flames.
CZ-75s are still pretty good. I like that they have a frame mounted non-decocker safety so you can carry it cocked and locked unless you want a decocker in which case the 75D is available. I currently have a heavily worn pre-B 85 from the 1980s.
Berettas have always been popular, but I think the pedestal they currently sit on is a bit of a fad. I really like the old 92S Italian police surplus ones, but the US made M9/92FS models have suffered some quality issues. They are still pretty good as long as you aren't unlucky, but I've seen enough out of the box defects that I wouldn't buy one. Beretta CS is also horrible to deal with.
There was a bit of a fad for a while where S&W 3rd gen autos 59/5906/4506/etc were massively overrated as well.
>>64069849I'm confused, the CZ-75 is and has always been metal framed. Are you talking about the P-10?
>>64069852You should try it. The flapper lock system means the barrel doesn't tilt. I find they have slightly better accuracy for that reason.
>>64071044Czechs issued CZ-83s and CZ-52s because they had to maintain ammunition commonality with other combloc countries. The 75 was mostly manufactured for export.
>>64076270The 75 is a lot more than an HP clone. It uses the same barrel locking system, but the slide rides inside the frame and it is DA/SA. A lot of things differentiate it.
