Rough looking, but a candidate for slide refinishing in something cool like CrN or DLC and I don't see any damage to the frame

300 bucks and that would be a pretty decent deal if it cleans up nicely. I think I paid something stupid like 500 dollars for a PX4 compact in similar condition (but cleaned) when PX4 9mm compacts weren't being made/imported for some reason.

For 636 you can get a factory "refurbished/checked/certified" Compact Carry 1 on gunbroker.

In my limited experience, the difference between the 47 and 34 is vanishingly small. The shorter recoil spring (and ergo faster spring rate) of the 47 is barely noticeable, and the slide weights are damn near identical. I think that Ben Stoeger might be misattributing the relative softness of the 47 compared to the 17 to the recoil spring setup, rather than the heavier slide weight.

The interesting story to me is that Brantley Merriam took 2nd at CO Nats with a G17 MOS. The 47 slide is much closer in weight to the 34 than the 17 because of the steel dustcover extension, and that additional muzzle weight makes it behave more like a 34 than a 17. So, at least one high level Glock shooter prefers the faster, snappier slide of the 17 to the heavier, softer 47/34.

I'm not sure what Shane Coley is shooting these days, I think still a 34.

I’ve very much liked my ACRO over the couple of years that I’ve owned it and I haven’t had any issues with it, but I might be in the minority there. A number of users have gotten moisture/debris intrusion, but that may have been fixed by now. If it does still happen to you, you can just send it back to the Aimpoint warehouse in Virginia and they’ll send you a new one.

The bezel is indeed super bulky and so the window is quite small, but I don’t really notice that while shooting. I shoot my 507Comp more than my ACRO these days, but I still think the ACRO is really nice. The brightness settings are great, the glass is crystal clear with no distortion, the footprint is very strong. A lot of things to like about it.

I would always go with more aggressive. Never in my entire life have I felt that a grip was too aggressive, but it wasn't until I started shooting sub and micro compacts that I realized how big of a difference the grip makes. I shot my bro's cc9 back to back with my 365 and was amazed at how much better the 365 felt because of the grip texture. It just doesn't twist in my hands and seems like it has almost no recoil. Though, as much as I love it, I just don't trust signs striker fired guns anymore and will probably get rid of it.

Appreciate the lengthy response/feedback. I went from the RMR to the Steiner MPS and found I liked enclosed emitters more and the “tunnel” shape of the optic helped me pick up the dot quicker on presentation. Since the optic comes direct mounted through Walther I’m curious how aimpoint customer service will be if I have an issue with it.

Word, I think I've noticed the same thing. The dot might be a little easier to temporarily lose in recoil because the window is smaller, but it's definitely very fast to pick up in presentation. I think that's also a product of the very nice brightness/glass clarity.

Aimpoint's customer service was very good to me when I lost the mounting bracket doohickey on my T2 and they just sent me a new one, no charge. They're very friendly (although I guess they should be, considering their products cost mucho dinero).

The rock climbing stuff works well for me, but I have sweaty hands and shoot in a hot climate. It’s probably not necessary if you’re in the Pacific Northwest or something. The downsides to the rock climbing chalk are that it gets everywhere, all over your clothes and range bag and gun, and it also makes you look like a ridiculous tryhard.

It is supposed to mean that slides and grip insert are easily interchangeable, minimum.
Truly modular would be those features plus a drop in FCG.
Makes it easier to fit a basic model to different sized shooters and use cases and makes repairs simpler.

Mmmmmm well, that's just the thing; this is going to be a 10mm build. My Apollo 11 is just good 'nuf for my 9mm shooting cravings and I like it rather well for carry, as I'm enough of a fatass to 3 o'clock carry it without trouble. Only thing I want to change about it is the mim parts, like the slide stop and loose-ass ambi safety.
That gun is my daily driver. This new gun in the meantime, is going to be a range toy and/or boar killer.

A standard Series 70 1911 (1911s without firing pin safeties) is not drop safe in the one way you dropped the gun, muzzle down, where the firing pin gets enough inertia to defeat the firing pin return spring and hit the primer. In all other directions it is drop safe.

Series 80 and other variations of that have firing pin blocks, the Colt Series 80 uses a trigger actuated one that makes the trigger feel terrible, other brands have grip safety actuated ones where it doesn't change the trigger pull but purists hate firing pin blocks plus it makes the disassembly and reassembly of the slide aids.

I just bought my first Pistol bros, and I'm real excited but what are your thoughts and concerns...Do you think I make the right decision buying a G43X MOS? I don't have it yet because its being shipped, but it should arrive in a few days.
I did research, and I even got to hold it before, but I've never owned a Pistol before so I just want to know what I'm in for and also what accessories I should get (including what Optic).

I do plan on carrying, but I mostly bought a G43X today~Because a few days ago I had somebody snooping around my House with a flashlight between midnight to around 5am and I don't want to take any chances...I do own a Rifle and a Shotgun, but I live with others and I think that a Pistol would be better for them to use if they ever had to defend themselves.

The most important things (besides a stockpile of ammo) to buy are a holster and training. Try to get a one on one basic handgun training class. Usually you can find these at your local range.

Make sure you familiarize yourself with the firearm. I would disassemble it and reassemble it over and over again to memorize the process.

It’s not a bad decision but not what I would have picked. In this hypothetical home defense situation for someone who isn’t you, a small handgun isn’t a super good choice, shooting handguns is hard and harder if you don’t know how to do it. A larger Glock with a heavier light is what I would do, if the weight of the gun in their hand is the issue then I don’t think they’re ready for the recoil.

If you want a gun that easy to use, some form of Pistol caliber rifle or braced pistol.

At this point multiple youtube channels have independently shown that while the p320 is the worst, virtually every striker fired handgun goes off if the trigger is only partially engaged and the slide is bumped. Do you think there will be surge in hammer fire handguns or new hammer fire designed?

IMO this ends with Sig making a trigger with safety blade, because every other striker gun has it, and it specifically stops trigger from being pulled back. Sig tried to go against perfection.

You simply don't see Glocks/Walthers/M&Ps/VP9s NDing after being jostled like you see in 320s. Part of this is the presence of trigger safety blades, part is that they all have considerably more sear engagement than the P320.

Thinking that "all strikers do that" is falling for literal Sig astroturfing.

Pointing out that the striker can be released with a partial trigger pull (like 90% trigger pull) and pushing the slide up and down and that its actually something that is a flaw inherent in the mechanical design of all striker fired guns is astroturfing?
The real astroturfing is autistic faggots proclaiming the gun magically fires with 0 reason at all kek.

Okay, you're clearly too much of a retard to be disabused of your notions, but I'll spell it out for the rest of the (actually sentient) people in the thread.

The damning thing about the "screw in P320 trigger" test is that you don't need to displace the trigger very far for it to go off. Indeed, you can stage the trigger to a point where it's still well in the take-up phase, long, long before the wall, and then get the gun to discharge by bumping the sear off its ledge. This is distinctly unlike what you have to do in an actually safe striker design. By your own admission, you say that to replicate this in other striker designs, you need to push the trigger much further ("90% of the way").

To wit, for a Glock or M&P or VP9 or PDP, you need to pull the trigger bar much further back than you do in the Sig, far enough to disengage the striker plunger safety, and in Glock's case, you need to go a bit further still, to disengage the sear cage safety. You can literally feel these safeties disengage during the trigger pull. That is, if you want to replicate the "screw in trigger" test for these guns, YOU HAVE TO STAGE THE TRIGGER LITERALLY TO THE WALL. This is unlike the P320, and failing to note this difference is unadulterated cope.

The P320 does not have a true striker plunger safety, like any of the above (which is why its trigger pull is very smooth, albeit mushy). Rather, it has a little arm that is supposed to catch the striker if it's knocked off its ledge. This arm has been shown to get stuck in a disengaged state in the FBI white paper. Moreover, the P320 has precious little sear engagement, and what sear engagement there is can be interrupted or otherwise minimized by the presence of burrs on the MIM sear ledge. This was also borne out in the FBI paper.

But the p320 has a shorter trigger pull, so 90% of that is very short distance indeed. Really, forget about p320, it's weird that striker fired guns were basically SAO without manual safety for so long without any problem. No one just carries a hammer fired gun cocked and with safety off, but with striker guns suddenly that was fine and acceptable, and things worked out while triggers sucked, but now that we want a short and crisp trigger pull too, the "modern handgun" design is starting to run into very contradictory design requirements.

Yeah thats true, its literally just the fact that the trigger is so light + low travel distance + slide movement condition.
Trigger blade safety would 100% prevent it.
If some company made a blade safety trigger for the p320 right now they would make so much money.

I would not trust a sub 200 dollar optic, I say 200 dollars since the stripped down less feature Holosun models are there. 407K for compact/slim guns like the 43X and the 407C for wider guns like the G19.

Hello my newguns fren. You don't need an optic for your pistol. Ignore the advice in here, you'd be better off spending that money on classes or 1:1 training time or ammo. Get good with your fundamentals of shooting and using the iron sights. The dot does provide an advantage however if you're properly trained with the irons that advantage is negligible. It also makes your gun look significantly worse and makes you look wimpy.

Its funny how he talks about "the pistol steels" on his 200 yard range like he's hitting solid shots at 200 yards and not minute of man at 25. I shoot at 25 yards all the time and your 20 moa irons is going to suck unless you know the exact hold you need, which I only would assume laseranon to have the skillset and experience to pull off and that guy uses optics.

The nicest thing about narrow irons like the PPK and Makarov is they get smaller theoretical moa than big modern sights
The springfields big sights are a detriment at 25
Pm could still land hits

I was thinking about one for my first pistol to buy, as I like that style and it felt good in my hands
It’s good to know it was disappointing, I might have to look elsewhere
The one someone else mentioned to me last thread has piqued my interest, the CSX
Looks like there is an updated version with the E-Series, and it seems pretty cool
They also mentioned the Kimber hammer gunds like the CDS9X and the KDS9C, I have heard mixed things on the company so anyone else have insight on those?
The PX4 Compact also looks awesome, someone said it was thick side to side though
I think I will still look at slightly larger ones like the Shadow Carry/75Compact/PCR and the DP51 but these smaller ones will be my priority

Bodyguard 2.0, Hellcat, or Shield X
Which should I get?

Looking for one that's a good carry.
Bodyguard 2.0 is very small, but 380.
Hellcat is also pretty small, but people say it's very jumpy (how much does a compensator help?)
The Shield X is the largest, but still seems to be a reasonable size.

You've pounded multiple I'll fitting slides on and off of it, you're cheaping out with a reused slide for some reason instead of carefully fitting a virgin one, I can't see any rhyme or reason to the mishmash of small parts, three hole trigger (blech), and you've been talking about cutting the frame for weeks but haven't actually done anything. You've got a weird pile of bullshit surrounded a decent frame and grip and have done precisely none of the blending and fitting required to make it something truly interesting.

The old Savage logo is up there but they're not a huge handgun manufacturer (do they offer any these days?). Surplus, that would be hard but most I can think of are rifle logos (not crests). PS: Ruger is pretty neat; logo was changed from red to black in 1951 after Sturm died. Which (according to TinCanBandit, at least) is where the Blackhawk name came from, as well as Ruger's love of the Stutz Blackhawk. Changed back to red in ~1999.

The gun I really want is a Les Baer double stack. The original ones were built on para frames for the FBI, I asked Les Baer and they won’t make a 2011. I bought a Les Baer slide and another frame, this one is the practice one.

>>64077222
If that's all you want there's options. The frame you chose doesn't seem inline with "classic styling" to me. It's sort of funny that what you're building is basically just a Tisas Duty B9R doublestack.

Whats interesting to me is when you've carefully chosen each part to be exactly what you want. I totally understand the appeal of building, but if you're going to do it it should be no compromise. It'll be spenddy but get a slide, small parts, etc that are all exactly what you actually want from EGW / C&S / Wilson / Ed Brown / Les Baer whatever and really take the time to autistically fit slightly oversized parts, then hand blend everything. That's what my old work buddy who is an obsessive competitive shooter does and his builds were incredible. He out hundreds of hours in on Caspian frames and slides and got something you just couldn't buy. Don't use a fucking Springfield slide with their hideous rollmark and end up with the pistol equivalent of a parts bin AR15.

Modeling a near-fi gun in Blender, custom design. Do you see anything egregiously wrong with it? It's supposed to be a starter 9mm Glock type pistol, the trigger guard and grip is supposed to be made of some kind of polymer while the rest is of course metal. Within the "shroud" looking thing in the front are supposed to be the muzzle, gas tube, and a flashlight. To the left is the draft I sketched up using a Sig 210 as a base for ergonomics and general proportions

I hear you, I'm interested in making my design realistic but considering it's for a videogame I don't feel the need to go that in depth, know what I mean? Still appreciate the input though

>Ideally it would be all the way at the rear of the slide.
I agree, it is the most logical placement for the rear right, although I do like this silhouette for the gun even if it isn't the most sensible. I will evaluate whether to follow the rule of cool or the rule of realism, thank you for your input anon

Isn't a 26 just a 19 but better, I can fit 30rnds no problem and hide it anywhere on my body but the 19 is a brick.

Anyone make any cool finds lately?
I'm happy that I found a megastar magazine that wasn't over 100 bucks for once. It's a california'd 10 rounder but that's close enough to 12 so whatevs, good to have another spare mag.

no, you're just a retard. It has a smaller grip and a shorter barrel, it's the same thickness though. It's not "a 19 but better" it's literally just a smaller gun. You're the type of retard who buys a 43X which is as tall as a 19 but has a 26's barrel length and capacity, aren't you?

Don't feel too bad anon, I can't get to any range for over a week as that's the next time I can get a membership (then plus one day because that's late in the day, so nearly 2 weeks). Can't go to my old range because I left my membership lapse and it's filled with retards and retarded rules and can't go to the state one as I need to renew my hunting license. And I have a gun I finally got modified exactly how I want it after like 3 years. Fun. I'd take that time to find yardsales or something and hope you find something interesting and cheap since you already got up early FWIW but I'm 20 hours late.

There's an H&R Model that's top break and 9rd like the 999 for like $3xx locally but I'm fucking broke or I'd buy it. It's pretty nice looking, too.

I'm not the original anon you replied to, I was just being cheeky. The Glock 19 isn't compact enough to justify carrying it instead of the Glock 17

It's titanium and the piston seal isn't perfect. Not a baffle strike.

It will be interesting just for the fact he made it himself retard. The only mistake he made was he didn't buy my prodigy for parts

Do you want the boomer aesthetics or no? I think a full length dust cover and a slide without an undercut would look best.
