First, that makes up a negligible percentage of violent crime in this country and it's almost completely driven by social factors, which in turn were created by foreign and domestic political actors to begin with. This is not the fault of the institution of permissive legal gun ownership.
Second, mass shooters can easily procure firearms and ammo illegally. They just have to talk to the same drug dealer that Tyrone talks to, which is actually far easier in my grabber state than simply filling out a 4473 and passing a background check is in a free state.
