Assuming this is on the eastern side of Taiwan, Ohio submarines would never be allowed to go there. It's a shallow strait and anti sub frigates would constantly be sounding the entire strait. If an Ohio class enters it'll be all of fifteen minutes before it's found, a plane flies over and drops torpedoes on it

Yes, but obviously the purpose of an amphibious bridge isn't air defense. It's like asking why your tank doesn't have electronic warfare capabilities - so it's going to be destroyed. Quite obviously it's the job of another part of the military. The important tactical part is these ships enable far greater amphibious logistics speed and flexibility, which is extremely dangerous to Taiwan.

Whether it strokes your ego or not, 99% of the combat in the next five years is going to come from Russia/Ukraine, India/Pakistan and China/Taiwan.

I can't talk about whatever arguments you may have had, but the amphibious bridge ship is a very significant threat to Taiwan. And it's not exactly wunderwaffe technology. The principles of it are well known.

>>64080751
Yes and the basic requirement for success of an amphibious operation is air superiority. It's what the thousand fighter jets and standoff missiles and so on they are building are for.

And from an engineering perspective? These ships are very interesting. Standard anti ship missiles work by destroying enough compartments to flood the ship and sink it. Historically igniting magazines was also a critical factor. But once jacked up, you cannot actually flood it. It would also carry no ammunition to ignite. You have the more complicated task of destroying enough legs to make it tip over. But if you just do this, the buoyancy of the ship would float itself upright once the other legs are retracted. So sinking it is a complicated problem.

The reason these worked in WW2 was because no one had anti-ship missiles, and everyone was reliant on run of the mill dumb bombs.
Even then they were only rolled out after the beachhead was well secured.
Opening with this is a comically bad idea, and relies on the enemy already being defeated for the most part.

You havent declared independence either.

If you feel so strong, why not do it? Becoming a real country, with real foreign policy and real embassies and real participation in international organizations is super cool. At least some South American or African country wont throw your ambassadors out whenever China builds them a bridge, and your people wont need to rely on the Chinese embassy to escape a civil war shithole or a natural disaster.

Germanfag here.
You guys literally stand no chance. Sorry.

I visited Taiwan last year and could approach this Patriot radar base in Kenting as a tourist driving those electric bikes you can rent there. Like, literally, I could just go into the base (since the sentry was sleeping), or just throw a grenade over the wall and blow this USD 1B piece of equipment to smithereens.
This Patriot base oversaw the Luzon strait, so dont come at me saying it isnt strategically important anyway etc.

You are cool guys who like easy and relaxed life, just as most of the mainlanders. There's no point in struggling. Visited Honkong before going to Taiwan and like nothing substancial changed. Still the same hustle and bustle and unfriendly shopkeepers who shout at you for not understanding their "english".

Taiwan has an interesting defensive position. A lot of aging equipment, which I hope they are able to upgrade. But what they do have is dug in and would be hard to crack.
An invasion from the mainland would also be departing into fields of preestablished fire, and I doubt PLA missile spam would truly negate that. Shore bombardments prelanding have never totally neutralized defenders.
The recent drills Taiwan was doing were the worst case scenario of needing to fight in the urban areas against forces which made it ashore. Hopefully that kind of fighting would not be needed in the first place.

American missiles had no trouble deleting Houthi rocket launchers. There was an incident where an Iranian-made anti-ship missile missed a US warship by about 10 miles and we sent a tomahawk after it, killing the goat fucker and his entire extended family because he had it hidden by his apartment block. Tomahawks can loiter for hours overhead to see if the greasy bastards want to poke their heads out of their hiding spaces.
With China, there's less guesswork. Chinese military assets aren't going to be hidden in populated areas, and if they are you're going to have a lot of civilian deaths because we really don't give a shit.

Till this day nobody can tell me what was so bad about ECFA aside of "hurr this means China becomes our greatest trade partner".

It was the DPP who started the de-sinication campaign, claiming that 92% of Taiwan's Han-population are "the rest" and not counted in favor to their fake Japanese relatives and abos.
It was the DPP who ended the status quo of the 1992 consensus.

Less than Indonesia.

China has been cleaning up quite a lot in recent years as the industries have been upgraded to higher value added products, and the industry and traffic have been electrifying.

Still, being the largest industrial power in the world and being less polluted than an Island resort country is quite respectable.

as said, it wont.
China is self-sufficient in grains and basedbeans are used for pig feed, which will be rationed during times of war. China's other overland trade partners are also ready to supply alternative animal feed like sorghum and even wheat to China, like Russia is currently doing.
There wont be any starvation in China during wartime, since China has an industrialized agriculture nowadays that is actually prone to overproduction and deflation.

China has a food overproduction, which means restaurants fight a price war to attract customers to their store and not the rival store.
Where do you read that people cant afford food?

You must be Taiwanese indeed, since food in Taiwan is fucking expensive in comparisson to China, where you eat for like 20 cents a meal.

Yes, why spend 10 usd on a Starbucks if you can drin a coffe for 2 USD at Luckin? That's what it means and this is why Luckin won against Starbucks and is now expanding in the US too, where budget conscious Americans are going to a mainland chinese coffee chain to drink cheap coffee.

This is literally how healthy competition looks like, but I guess the US actually isnt capitalist.

No, but world bank data is a good indication.

The average Chinese gets to eat more protein than the average american these days.

Understandable, since I see now tiktok from China where people complain that they have to take a loan to buy groceries, but there are tons of those in the US.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/buy-now-pay-later-bnpl-loans-groceries/#:~:text=A%20quarter%20of%20Americans%20now,for%20clothing%2C%20technology%20and%20housewares.

>More Americans are turning to "buy now, pay later" loans to purchase groceries

If anything, it is the US that isnt healthy.

That's how destructive competition in a real market looks like.

That's what economists say:
>zero profit equilibrium occurs when firms in a perfectly competitive market earn just enough revenue to cover their explicit and implicit costs, including opportunity costs.

And China's internal market is hyper competition.

Another indication is average height.
In China it has been increasing for decades.

In Japan, which stagnated since the 80s, the height also stagnates.

In India, people get smaller.

>chinese statistics
The chinese say their average IQ is 105 but that's only for jintan province. Through the magic of the hukou system (internal migration controls that confine poorfags to the slums), the rest of the country is much worse off. China does monitor the actual condition of their poorfags because they have a lot of contaminated water supplies. There is so much naturally occurring fluoride in chinese water that it interferes with brain development like eating toothpaste as a child would. If you pay attention, seeing through the lie is easy.

The hukou system keeps the poor and dumb, poor and dumb. When speaking to the international community china only surveys the urban population.

Also see: China's homelessness problem doesn't exist on paper because all homeless are registered as "returned to their families" and remain so even if they get kicked out/leave again.
