I was at the beach today when a couple Jets flow over us, what first signaled they were there was the sound.
Could you use something like this to grid out stealth, just having a couple guys listening for planes flying in, then having a grid in which know who heard the planes than you narrow down where to shoot your radar too.
The b2 is subsonic so the sound will be heard faster than it csn travel and modern planes dont travel past mach 2.

If you can hear a jet you've been in weapons range for at least the last few minutes.

This is why jet acquisition generally has a need for the jet to go at the very least near supersonic OP, sound is something you can't really hide, you just get ahead of it.

yes. I don't remember how classified the tech is so I won't go into any further detail, but something like that exists, but not how you've thought about it.

Dude. Modern fighters can hit targets from hundreds of km away. You won't even hear them. And any non-Indian Air Force will try to take out nearby air defence assets before striking.

It would only work with subsonic aircraft. Which stealth aircraft would be.
But the B2 and alike have measures in place to mitigate their sonic footprint just as much as their radar one.

Yesn't. It works in theory for detection, but the reality of stand-off weapons means that you'd never even hear them if they're dropping a bomb with like a 40km glide range, let alone serious stand-off missiles.

My thought was small number of guys st the border hiding with a war tuba listening to the peculiar sound and relaying this to command so they know an airplane thsts invisible to Radar went trough your location.
It isnt meant as early warning system as much as Knowing someone breached your airspace and is going trough a certain route so you know where they are aiming for and have a general idea of where they are .

Technically yes, practically no. You'll be dealing with the speed of sound so all you're readings will be on a time delay. This leads to some pretty bizarre calculations with the furthest stations being seconds out of sync with the closest. Worse, sound echos so you'll get false readings for hundreds of miles away from the actual aircraft.

Probably the best use is just an alarm to turn the radars on.
