Why can't soldiers/uniforms look like this anymore?

Wool is costly and not very durable. The blouson style was made to preserve wool, not because it is superior to normal jackets. And of course camo prints are an advantage in combat.

Oh, and also puttees are inferior to gaiters which are inferior to proper height combat boots. Again, this was meant to preserve costly leather.

Because war is not about looks but functionality, or rather if you elevate looks over functionality and your enemy isn't polite(retarded) enough to go along with that you will lose and die and thus in the end only the functional remains outside of safe ceremony far away from anything dangerous.

You knew that though.

because all over the world except in countries with conscription the number of volunteer is decreasing, so we need to ensure the soldier need to stay alive as long as possible, that mean body armor, better helmet, uniforms with more pockets so he can carry more stuff and made with better materials, a fuck huge backpack to carry all the other shit he need to survive on the field ( that will also destroy his spine once he reach 35 years old ) and also his rifle with an other shitload of ammo for it to make sure he can keep shooting as long as possible.

basically in your OP the average life expenctancy of the soldier during a firefight was 1 minute maximum, with all the new stuff we have today we raised it to 3 minutes maximum, result in both case can vary depending on soldier training and exposure to enemy artillery/air support/vehicle support

The real question is why don't hunters mostly don't look like THIS.
Civilian camouflage clothes were a mistake.

Feels like the worse of both worlds; cheap yet unaesthetic.

Because theyโ€™re disposable resources and arenโ€™t meant to look cool but to be functional and win you battles.

wood uis extremly durable. Just because you are in the tactlarp stage of gun ownership where you think cheap sloppy crap made from plastic and aluminium is good that only because its marketed at you hard and you feel for it. Cold war conscript guns form teh USA and USSR were made of cheap materials and just good enough fuction and considered expendable. Most of the choices in them are to make the manufacturing of them as cheap and easy as possible. Thye barely fullfill the reqiremenst for suppression fire andnsuad manouvre within 300M Up your game

The only problem with wool is that you need dry cleaning to maintain it.

The Chink uniforms are probably the closest we have to the 20th-century fashion these days.
>Four pocket tunic
>Belt buckle with an embossed emblem
>Rank insignia on collar tabs
>Big emblem on the caps and helmets
I think they're cool. The big bad dictatorships opposing America always seem to have the sharper looking uniforms.

Chinks always maintain this strange balance of being a people I dislike very much while also having some of the most interesting looking equipment I would love to mess around with

It's just soviet style mixed with trying to copy the Americans, so they end up looking like videogame/scifi channel uniforms.

Bullshit. Rank bullshit. Civilian wool garments are (sometimes) durable because they are thick and heavy to begin with. In pure tensile strength, or abrasion resistance, it sucks. Your flowery verbal flatulations notwithstanding.

Just try and buy standard nyco, then uniform grade wool fabric.

I've been wanting a chink uniform set recently, but white guy sizes might be too expensive and low quality to justify it
