It wouldn't have an effect on accuracy because the bullet will engage a non-zero amount of rifling after it passes the gas port. Unlike crimp jump or a damaged crown at the muzzle, is isn't changing either the end state or starting state of the bullet's trajectory, so I cannot see the placement of the gas port relative to the position along the rifling.

I directly mounted my pressure pad and light to my handguard.

I didn't attach them with adapters or mounts. I literally machined and drilled parts of my handguard so that I could mount a scout-pattern light and pressure pad directly to it And it kinda fucks hard.

I don't and I'm too lazy to pop off the handguard to get photos of my tomfuckery. But I can explain it! So there was an existing mlok slot there. Obviously the square mounting lugs on a scout-style light are too thick to fit... but it's not hard to file away some aluminum; coincidentally, the lug spacing on scout-pattern mounts happens to be exactly the same length end to end as an mlok mount. So I just filed out some squareish cutouts on either end, then grabbed a small rectangular steel plate about... maybe an inch wide (or just a bit shy) to act as a retainer and drilled a pair of holes in it; so that's what's preventing the light from falling off (since it's fully supported on all sides by material).

Then I just put in some screws from the top of the light, inside the handguard with a long ball-end hex key, with some permatex to make sure they don't rattle loose.

As for the pressure pad, that particular one's already got 2 threaded screw holes in it brand new -- and the CMT 7.5 inch handguard happens to have exactly enough scalloped dead space on top of the rail to fit a pressure pad. So I drilled out 2 holes where I needed to, and just ran screws up from the bottom from inside the handguard (again, with a ball-end hex key and some permatex).

None, it’s just that they don’t make FSB’s in this very large diameter barrel size, so a free float was like, the only option i could find at the time when i made this (circa 2021). I find shooting from the prone the bipod has very little effect on aim point shift, maybe 1 moa up vs resting it on the hand guard, so it is zeroed prone with the bipod. Off hand shots are really hard anyways. It has great accuracy on dogshit ammo way better than my pencil barrel rifle.

I figured that the original rpk made do with this, but then an rpk uses iron sights, so barrel deflection is moot. But this barrel is way beefier than an rpk barrel, so it still works.

I have a couple D60 yes. I do like your air spring idea it also needs a belt drive the gears are loud af. I had a lantac side charging upper on it i got second hand but i wasn’t able to find the bcg that goes with it. I made my own side charging bcg and it worked ok but as it wore in it started dragging a lot and led to issues. I think dirt ingress wasnt helping so i just went back to a normal upper.

I always found that carrying extra D60s on my kit was way less space efficient than 40 round stick mags and slower to reload. Only drawback with 40s is they are sort if in the way prone shooting, but with the long rpk bi pod not really that bad.

I got it second hand for $125 and i couldn’t be happier with it desu. I like the shake away feature because this is my bed side gun and I don’t want to think about the battery or switching it on etc. it puts a huge reticle in front of my eye immediately even if i have an awkward stance or am holding the rifle funny because i’m half awake.
