So it's all the UAV troops under the UAV branch... which doesn't actually contain all the UAV troops. Perhaps most ironically, Magyar is in charge of the USF but the 414th (his OG unit) remains under regular military.

So if you do the math with USF (avg. 166) + nonUSF UAV (less due to their size, but around 100-ish) being supposedly around a third of all confirmed target hit per month, 1k casualties does sound like an okay estimate from these numbers alone.

Of course, that's without knowing shit about how many people Russians have in the theatre and send out to eat shrapnel on the daily.

How far away can those actually start a fire? I suppose it must be pretty short because I haven't seen laser sabetour drones yet, something that just start fires in enemy foxholes, ignite fuel stockpiles, start wildfires with the piles of trash that follow ziggers, etc. Being able to light shit on fire silently with something light enough to be drone mounted just seems like a no brainer to me. Hell you could literally use it as a laser pointer for your guys in the field, I've seen like 5+ webms of a bunch of Ukranians trying to deal with one Russian but they don't know quite exactly where he is- but a drone pointing a laser bright enough to start a fire would probably be visible in the smoke and dust of a battlefield and show them exactly where he is. Some have returned now since they think there won't be another mobilisation, which is kinda likely actually because Putin doesn't want to touch off another exodus, likely permanent.
But yeah, the Russian army now is overwhelmingly the dregs of society, the alcoholics, criminals, loonies, homeless etc. It's one of the reasons why they perform so poorly, why their commanders are allowed to behave so brutally and corruptly why you occasionally see them doing such comical things.
