what does /k/ think of shoulder harnesses?

i work from home and when i go out (in florida) i wear shorts, a t-shirt and nike track jacket 99% of the time. i freeball a revolver in my jacket pocket (that's over my shorts pocket) but am thinking about upgrading to a proper holster. i prefer not to have a gun pointing at my dick and/or balls hence why i don't appendix carry

It's slower to draw than right-side inside-the-waistband carry, but it's the best way to conceal a gun. People can easily conceal Desert Eagles, Uzis, MP9/TP9, Bowie knives, etc. with shoulder holsters.

I have a custom made shoulder rig for my revolver. I wear it when I ride my motorcycle. It's better than using the gun pocket of my riding jacket because I can take the jacket off and not worry about my gun not being on my body. It is NOT better than the IWB holster that I use in every instance that is not me riding my bike. Shoulder holsters are situationally useful, but if you can safely and comfortably carry IWB or in your pocket then that would be preferable. However if you EDC a revolver a shoulder rig is probably inevitable, so spend the money on a good.

Awesome but niche. Love mine, they're the most comfortable way to carry full size. Obviously, they're also the most binary on concealment. If it's winter or the rare setting where dress jackets are still a thing then you can conceal pretty well with the right design (for a full size you want it vertical instead of 45Β°). Otherwise it's open carry. But that's ok innawoods, and they don't get in the way of backpacks or tool belts, they're a versatile way to carry from a practical perspective.

If universal CC is the highest priority, and for the vast super majority of people it is, then shoulder carry is at best seasonal and at worst useless. And it also costs more money. If you live in an area where it's cold a significant portion of the year and/or it's a rural area where you spend a lot of time innawoods or working on the farm or whatever and concealment is irrelevant vs comfort and work compatibility, then it's nice if you can find one that fits your gun.

You're >(in florida)
talking about shoulder holsters and are NOT showing a picture of Andrew's Leather or at the very least even mentioning the Monarch Rig?

thats crazy. i think about how hot summers are here in cuckfornia and imagine florida is like that year round so i would assume pocket carry or IWB are the only viable ways to conceal. but maybe concealment isnt that important there bceause its somewhat based and most people expect or know everyone is carrying anyway so its considered normal and the karens wont chimpout and call the police shrieking about a mass shooter if they see a gun like they do here

Non-issue with the right shoulder holster. Break through or pivoting designs let you carry muzzle down and avoid flagging without hindering the draw.

You should only wear one if you've got a good physique.

Plus having the option to not have to put on sunscreen every 30 minutes is nice. Same reason people in Arabia walk around in robes all day, keeping the sun off you is a priority (aside from religious reason too obviously).

Actually those tight fitting athletic wear stuff keeps you pretty cool too if not cooler.

Shoulder carry is great if you are permitted/dont need a permit and it's not a big deal to take your jacket off. I carry illegally sometimes with a galco classic lite shoulder holster and my j frame and I love it, but I am super conscious of the shoulder straps printing on my back, not even the gun poking out from my armpit.

Also if you want to take it off you can't really do it discreetly in a parking lot, you have to stay in the car and peel it off of you, and probably keep an IWB holster in the car to swap to when it's just too hot or not practical.

They are comfy and make carrying larger heavier guns a breeze. Double points for being very classy if you have a nice leather one if you're allowed open carry where people will be more willing to kinda just roll with it vs some modern kydex belt holster. The big downside is you are stuck wearing that jacket the whole time so it's not really a bad idea to keep a IWB holster with you.
Also i just realized your picture has him carrying a 1911 and a fucking G18. That is one hell of a way to rock and roll.

It's the most comfortable way to CC, but it's mostly for cold weather. There are some very bad holsters out there. I wasted too much money learning that.

I got a shoulder harness for my wife. It's full-grain leather, made specifically to her measurements. It goes really well with her collar. I'm not sure what fetish wear has to do with carrying guns in a shoulder holster, though.

Carrying a loose revolver in a jacket isn't sketchy but carrying the same revolver in a property holster worn AIWB is?

Get the enigma if you want a beltless option for EDC.

My lazy boy setup is a pair of Hamre forge hook grips like this. I use an arcade nylon stretch belt and it's ridiculously comfortable. The trigger is safe for this type of carry in my opinion.
