If they were run by smart people they would focus on strenghtening their militaries first. But both have done nothing in this regard while provoking Russia as hard as they can do.

In a way it's impressive how developed their ability to deny reality is. How can they look at the absolute shitshow of the war in Ukraine, at the substantial losses of their giant stockpiles which will never be replenished, at the brain drain, at the loss of soft power, at them directly chasing additional countries joining NATO, etc. etc. etc. and conclude from all of this that it is RUSSIA who's holding all the cards, who is having momentum, who has proven that its opponents are full of delusions of grandeur.

not when those resources are easy targets and when the doctrine is shit. US/NATO dominate on logistics alone and have the world trade currency that will need a century or two at best to rival. "experience in combat" is a meme that ended in WW2 when tactics could be created easily from real battlefield data rather than guesswork
