Learning to wrench lets you keep a truck for decades if you choose sufficiently popular models so I did (various Fords and Chevrolets, brandfagging is for children).
Putting tools before toys leads to more toys for less money and very low overhead. My 2000 5.3 Silverado is assembled from multiple donors (the lot I did that for closed before it was finished so I bought it cheap). My '76 Ford wrecker is good for many more decades etc etc.
Salvage titles are useful to drop prices on vehicles and mean nothing to me because I don't trade, I methodically opportunistically acquire runners and organ donors instead. I often make trailers from wrecks to get my money back.
My gunsmithbro trades rifles for vehicles and makes out like a fat rat
because it's easy for Bubba to get that past the spouse.
