Recommend me some /k/ino

I watched the Artic Convoy (2024) about a merchant ship in WW2. It was okay. Just started Netflix's All Quiet on the Western Front and I'm already depressed.

Pic rel is a new movie coming out. It's basically Saving Private Ryan but with a Tiger tank.

The point isn't that outliers never existed.
The point is that modern media loves to exaggerate the relevance of them, and many just eat that shit straight up.

It's the same dispute as with Battlefield 1 featuring black people. Were black people involved in world war 1? Yes, some. The result is that the game features at least 20% black characters, which is fucking retarded.

Now of course you can always argue that pop media isn't a documentary and that it can use it's artistic freedoms to bend realities a bit, but people eventually do get tired of being subjected to continuous and consistent lies about their culture and heritage.

I'm glad Master & Commander exists, but the movie was doomed from the start with it's $150,000,000 budget ($263,000,000 adjusted for inflation) and that doesn't include marketing. It's too niche to be profitable with that big of a budget and thus sequels were cancelled.

Besides, it's kinda hard to do a movie featuring a Tiger 1 considering there's only one running Tiger 1 in the world (Tiger 131).
Bovington loaned Tiger 131 for the movie "Fury". I believe its the only movie to use a real Tiger 1.

As much as I wanna see us wreck the Japanese fleet I do actually kind of appreciate that the movie isn't a jingoistic Rambo 2+ catharsis type thing. It is more like a feature-length Twilight Zone episode than anything else.

Worst case would have been if they do try to have a fight but fuck it up w/ limited budget and make it all radio/radar based without you seeing much action. Red Dawn is surprisingly good in a way that belies its reputation as a dumb jingoistic action flick. Milius is insane in a good way but he actually gets across how not fun war is pretty well, without going too grimdark and alienating the audience. The 1 cuban guy at the end seeing the 2 brothers bleeding out and realizing they're just kids hits way harder now that I get older. Fighting for your country and ideology is a noble endeavor and the movie doesn't say otherwise, but it also shows the physical and emotional and moral costs as well.

On that note, Milius also made one of the last good fun b-movie adventures, The Wind and the Lion. No, I don't count The Mummy, I actually really dislike the first one because it is always sold as close to Indiana Jones and really isn't at all. Plus the big broad overacting and bombastic music every time anyone does anything makes it lose effectiveness IMO.

It does look like a JudenPanzer-55. Normal T-55 doesn't have an L7 style extractor on the cannon.

Watched Izzat (2005) and it was damn good. About a group of paki gansters in some Nordic country competing with other gangsters. Not an insane amount of action but the writing was top notch.
