>>64095055>I was asking about all the other platformsThe original down select was a combination of features, technology readiness level and ability of mfg to produce the assault rifle.
SOCOM was going to hitch the horses to one wagon and quickly DQd the dumb ones like cobb, robinson arms, etc. Robarm forgot to ship BFAs and socom used it as the written excuse to eliminate robarm. Robarm was never going anywhere since their shop at the time was/is the size of a CVS and they had no prior experience getting mil contracts. Nobody at socom wanted to hold their hand the entire time.
The FN design was the most mature at the time and FN was a proven winner at getting things into inventory at this point. The vendors were able to submit questions and submit at an industry conference. The selection board was a bunch of socom operators providing input alongside the program managers incharge of making it come to life.
FN was selected unanimously
While the FN SCAR wasnt the only extruded ar180 entered into the competition it was the most mature of the bunch and the operator feedback to FN engineer pipeline ensured that it would mature into a really decent rifle. The rest of the rifles on the market were never subjected to such a rigorous board review, test, revise, repeat cycle and as such are wholly immature platforms. Im sure you could polish a bren to the point of a SCAR given full freedom to do so but
>Europoors, commercial gun companies and israelis>Touching brassOnly GWOT goons could have pushed this boulder up the hill to where it is.
