The USA has never assumed that an opponent has stuff that 'doesn't work' and has always assumed that the stated characteristics of a weapon or system or vehicle are not the actual stats but are lower. This is how you stay ahead. It's how the Bongs stayed ahead during their centuries. You just assume that what you're facing is better than what the opponent says and design your response around it. The guy is not going to assume missiles don't work or are actually much shorter ranged. You can't do that. Real life isn't a video game where stats are hard-coded.
But ultimately the thing I always say and nobody ever replies to is this; if China is superior in all forms to the USA in terms of military equipment why the fuck is it not taking advantage of this superiority and ticking off stuff it wants to do while it is in a situation where the USA would end up getting more losses than if they waited for the USA to 'catch up'? It's the same with Russian shills saying that Russia is beating all of NATO on its own. If that's the case why are they not invading the Baltics and reclaiming what they see as fake states that are Russian really? You can't have it both ways. You cannot be both superior to your opponent but also unwilling to use that superiority.
