Nairobi, 1998. One of the first major Al Qaeda atrocities. Killed hundreds (mostly locals), blinded several hundred more from glass in nearby buildings as people looked out of their windows at the sound of a stun grenade thrown at guards during the attack right before the truck bomb went off. Then a few thousand more from shrapnel. The guys who did this were diabolically intelligent and knew how to build these things.

When thinking about getting a legit combat deployment in a conventional war i always have the delusion it's not going to happen to me ill get through make all this experience and come back with it in the bag but truth is you'll most likely blow up and die or be mutilated maybe you'll due slowly and will have time to think about what's happened to you, you'll never see your family friends whatever again you're gonna die right there, maybe among your mates maybe you're left alone, imagine being one of these guys.
Or you lose limbs or are paralyzed or other horrible shit and got to live with jt for the rest of your life.

This picture reminds me more of how brutal war is more than any other. It's just numbers on a grid, each number a brother, son, father. Just numbers on a grid.
Anonymous No.64101725 >>64115979
>>64101696
For context:
>What we are seeing here are pieces of four 6x6 grids (one complete and three partial) numbered (in red) 1-36, each one of these squares further subdivided into four section. Each larger square composed of 36 squares is 1000x1000 yards total, meaning that each one of the 36 subdivisions is about 166x166 yards, and each of the four segments of one smaller square is 83 yards. The blue numbers indicate a soldier killed on that field of battle which means that in the large 36-square "M" subdivision #18 that there were 210+29+372+17 fatalities, or 628 on a 166x166 yard field, or in one case 372 killed on a 83x83 yard plain. The deaths were even more intense on other areas of the field--in Square S #11 there were 749+207+234+126, or 1,416 deaths in that 166x166 yard field, and 749 on the 83x83 yard field. It is hard to visualize such loss. I picture a U.S. football field--there are 22 players on the field during play, and that seems to populate the area pretty well--casualties of 749 soldiers on a similar area would be nearly 35 times that, meaning that placed equidistantly and with a few feet on the sides they would cover the field. There are, what, 75 people on a football team? That means at the beginning of the game when all of the players and coaches and staff and cheerleaders and member of the band run out onto the field to take their places, they would all be dead--and then some. That is a lot of death.

Doing bad things because they are necessary does not make them good things. A necessary evil is not something that you want to do but something that you have to do. You can't say "FUCK YEAH KILL EM ALL" while also pretending that you're just doing something out of duty or necessity. You want it too much for that to be true.

This entire idea that a good thing can negate a bad thing is retarded toddler tier logic. These are discrete actions and they can't be equaled out like that. It's especially dangerous for the stupid and easily convinced, who will readily do heinous shit as long as you tell em it's for a good cause. Rarely if ever are there soldiers who believe their side is unjustified in their actions.

It's the uboat factory Valentin in Bremen, Germany. The roof was 4.5m (~14 feet) of reinforced concrete. Keeping that much weight up in a slab required an absurd amount of rebar. When the bomb hit, the massive amounts of concrete falling dragged the rebar down with it. Rebar is meant to resist tensile (pulling) forces, it really isn't intended to be stiff. You see similar twisting in the destruction of other large, reinforced concrete buildings like the WTC after 9/11.

I never put it together until my dad who is more of a history buff than I am told me. Captain Ike Fenton was the older brother of PFC Michael Fenton, a USMC Scout Sniper, and also the son of Francis Fenton. Ike was in the Para-Marines during WWII, staff corps in the interwar period, and then 5th Regiment during Korea. Online sources say he made it to Lt Col by the end of the 1950s. I don't think nepotism alone can boost you that high that fast desu. He lived until his 70s which is pretty damned good for surviving WWII and Korea.

But if nothing else, the Fentons did their duty to America. https://marines.togetherweserved.com/usmc/servlet/tws.webapp.WebApp?cmd=LegacySBV&type=Person&ID=323646

It's total luck really, there's a famous Bong helmet that saved the wearer from 7.62x39 if I remember right probs the MK7, if you repeated that same shot a few times over he's probably have died every time.
Think the shot entered one side then bounced around inside until it exited at the very top of the helmet.
NVM was a MK7.
