Realistically? The basic bitch of basic bitch answers, AR-15 because it can be configured in nearly unlimited ways in varying calibers. I lose out on the rifle round shooting but really, I probably won't be able to practically afford it anyhow.
If someone else was paying for the ammo I'd get the M1917, modded to shoot 7.62*51 and with spade grips because I like spade grips. I've always had a hard on for the older water cooled MGs.

I don't own one, but have shot one. They are mechanically very well made, so feed it good ammo (stingers/minimags/eley target) it will run great. The guy who owned it ran a patch with solvent down the barrel after each magazine, but it didn't have any malfunctions. I think that was more just him trying to look after his rare and expensive toy. We shot 3 magazines through it with no problems. I assume it would have been good for more, but that was all the ammo we had. So 540 rounds, a wet patch every 180, zero malfunctions.

Propably some M16/AR 15 Style Rifle. You can basically lego mod that stuff into whatever you want:

Short Barrel and .300 Blackout -> SMG
16-18 Inch Barrel .223 -> Assault rifle
20+ Inch .308 Barrel -> DMR

Assuming that fits within the rules. If not, i'd get a P90

The obvious would be an M16A1 for the ability to use it across uppers. Or an MP5 for soft shooting and looks. I think I'd probably go with a Ruger 10/22. Lots of aftermarket options, silences well, 1st party mags available in 10, 15, 25 round, cheap to shoot, huge selection of ammo. Shame it empties them so fast though, lol. Only video I can find that isn't age gated which is a shame as there's an SBR 10/22 silenced in full auto that is pretty neat as well as a B-TM SBR in full auto that I wanted to link but I'm not signed in right now and can't remember who uploaded those videos.

Resident Wumbologist !!aZ2iZUdyUbF No.64107326
Having actually shot several machine guns, the boring answer is an AR-15. There is a reason they are so successful, and that is a combination of minimal muzzle climb and extremely good heat management in full auto fire.

MP5s and open bolt SMGs are roughly comparable to shoot, whereas most other assault rifles are significantly worse. Moreover if the lower is the machine gun and I can swap uppers that allows me to have an SMG, a 5.7mm PDW, a carbine, an assault rifle and even a belt fed SAW all in the same weapon system.

ArmWest/Surefire MGX. Here is a video of it being fired in full auto:

https://youtu.be/mjalVs-pAr8?si=5IPWCwn1VmDzIcQv

A close second is just a lightweight AR, with a heavy barrel, a quattro15 lower, and an OBC to minimize cyclic rate and smooth out recoil. That would be pretty sweet. Maybe even peak AR.

>>64100908
This would be my third option. Honestly a glizzy with a switch seems like the most fun one can have with a gun.

Movie armorers are batshit insane. Case in point: Albert Pyun's guy. Made the Underworld guns, chopped a fucking 20mm AA cannon down into a rifle, duped the Smartgun with an M60, does absolutely unholy shit with Mossy 500s like mocking up rotary grenade launchers on them. Or that sick Bulgarian fuck who had a bunch of Colt sporter parts and welded them onto a chopped-up AK to make "M-16s".
If you're asking about that movie/gun in particular it's a Calico 9mm SMG converted to a carbine with the 100-round drum attachment and a bunch of plastic added. It's been re-used in a couple of movies and I'd stab someone to get my hands on one.

Less than you'd think. If you're a big dude you can carry one on a sling at the hip (pic related), you'd only need the waldo to be able to eat the recoil. Call it ~100 lbs or so for ripping off a full belt, maybe 150 if you really wanted to go to town and carry some ammo
