The ps90 will be the best home defense firearm.
Once a decent FRT for it is available, at least.

A 50 round bullet hose with a low overall length, whisper quiet with subsonic ammo, and perfectly ambidextrous controls. How does anything beat a p90 at that point?

An FRT for it is probably gonna be my next project, though I dont own one yet
Maybe once I get my business going and make a name for myself in FRTs I can acquire a loaner gun to work on

I've shot my buddy's p90 with a huxwrx can, no issues. No idea if a more traditional suppressor will introduce issues, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

After a few casual range trips I WANT to like it but it's still got the feel of a toy. And I just can't get over it's origin story, this is a eurofag committee gun designed by bureaucrats who start fights they cannot finish. OP's entire premise is a future promise that I just can't get excited about.

I'll take a suppressed AR pistol or sbr for the vast aftermarket options and ease of use/ familiarity with controls any day over this.

Vast options for what?
Flash light, red dot, maybe a silencer. What else do you need on a home defense firearm? What do you want to put on a ps90 that you can't already?

Isn't the P90 ammo designed to penetrate armour? I thought the idea was to equip it to rear echelon troops with a quick handy weapon that could defeat soviet paratroops or some such. Either way, anything that is supposed to penetrate body armour is likely not a good home defence weapon.
Anonymous No.64110934 >>64113817

It's intended to penetrate level IIA soft armor that's only good against .380 ACP.

FRT would be extremely difficult to produce for a PS90. The bolt carrier is a weird square shape that connects to the FCG through a hook mechanism. They're tricky shits.

It's impressively sad that the entire meta and development effort for private gun ownership is for a scenario that statistically is "never" going to happen unless you've been fucking around with the wrong people.

Oh but yeah you totally need 6 mags, "not full auto" capability, suppressed subs and etc. for a home defense against...a full fire team?
Jesus fuck. Imagine living your life ENTIRELY based on fear. Like those faggots who think anything less than a full cab truck is unsafe.

What else would ""the entire meta and development effort"" be about? Hearing safety that would affect any single shot in any scenario is included among the things you're apocalyptically furious about for no reason, so clearly you're upset not about what's being discussed, but that there is a discussion at all. If you don't want to discuss weapons, then feel free not to neither read nor post on a weapons board.

If you never held one than you wouldn't know. When shouldered the PS90 is super compact compared to almost any other firearm. The only way to be a smaller package is shoot a pistol from the Center Axis Relock stance. This shit can matter in enclosed spaces like a vehicle or even a small one story house.

5.7 can pen the crisat target (1.6mm titanium backed by 20 layers of kevlar) at 205 meters exactly.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collaborative_Research_into_Small_Arms_Technology
https://web.archive.org/web/20110707175011/http://www.asianmilitaryreview.com/upload/200712031747321.pdf

The crisat target is supposed to represent the soviet 6B2 body armor and some lighter version of the 6B3/6B5 armor that have similar protection to the 6B2. So the poor nato truck driver equiped with a P90 should be effective against soviet paratroopers with lighter armor models up to 200 meters.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbPT9z_RzYA

Main problem is that it fails hard against rifle resistant 6B3 equiped with 6.5mm plates. It will fail even harder against any soviet armor rocking the ceramic carbid core plates.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py9MJUmdQ4o
According to henry, soviet paratroopers actually dropped slick, having the armor be inside the air dropped apc/ifv and then equiping it on the ground after landing. And IIRC in the soldier of fortune magazine which did some test in 1984 on the early 6B2 armor, can be penetrated by steel core 9mm fired from submachine guns at very close range anyway. This makes the whole "kill paratroopers wearing armor with this new caliber" a very specific scenario that is somewhat unlikely to justify a whole new weapon system just for that scenario. The soviet union also died after the P90 program was finished.

In the context of home defence. The P90 should kill any burglar that is smart enough to wear soft armor assuming you are not firing subsonic rounds.

Lol, lmao even. At that point it's a fucking center fired .22lr. couldn't pay me to use that for HD. Literally any other PCC with an FRT in a non shit caliber would be better. If you're going to run supers in it then any 5.56 or .300 blk shorty would clap it. It would be a really neat and fun fun though with an FRT if the ammo was cheaper or easier to reload.

I'm sorry OP but 5.7 is dog crap unless you get the ZOG-only SS190 black tip rounds and you're shooting people wearing soft body amor. Watch Garand Fag's video where he shoots 5.7 Speer Gold Dots into one of those gel dummies with blood and organs. The terminal performance is terrible. I would only ever recommend it for home defense if the user is a petite woman who can't handle the massive recoil of 9mm.

>Subsonic 5.7 has about 50% more energy than .22 lr.
Depends on your loading. They make 60grain subsonic 22lr. Subsonic 5.7 is 62grain. Speed will be the same because they are both right below the sound barrier so the energy is basically the same which is about 130 foot pounds which is dogshit.

Give it 2 years and the designs will be public for download and people will be able to print them in their own house for the same cost as a mcdonalds combo meal. 3d printers are getting better every year. It's not just plastic anymore you can print full metal parts now. With a little filing they're essentially just as functional as anything else and way cheaper. And it will only get better.

How would you know better than me, I'm in the business of selling FRTs and you're not, retard. If you had any actual skills you'd know its completely free to draw up shit in cad and 3d print it out until it works right, then you spend a few hundred to have some chinese factory make it for you and then you can spend however much you want on buying it in bulk to sell, or buy a cnc machine and learn how to churn them out yourself. Sure you might need like atleast 10k but thats not massive money. Also don't talk to me about patent shit and I don't need some retard like (you) trying to replace my own lawyer that I speak to. To begin with a patent application can take well over a year, so if you dont sell enough to afford the 10k+ to finish it, you probably don't need a patent anyways, and you wont need to pay out your ass for it.

I am not the OP and using anything but FN labeled ammo is pants on head retarded for the PS90. At HD distance you should be getting headshots with ease and with 50rds you should be shooting them until they drop or run out your door. One shot stops with semi-auto handgun calibers is a roll of the dice with center mass hits regardless so recommending 9mm over 5.7 isn't a move in the right direction.

A good HD gun is all about the location in which you are most likely to use it. If you live in a ranch style house with long distances between walls/tall obstacles you probably want a rifle or shotgun. Small homes and apartments are where the size of the gun can matter more than the caliber (within reason). I'd rather have a compact package that isn't easily grabbed or manipulated by an attacker within touching distance.
