You could get them for 60 dollars back in the day.

Gun prices are artificially inflated, if the market was healthy and not fucked by kikes everyone would own a 50 dollar reliable full power rifle capable of taking functionally any game and being entirely serviceable as a weapon of self defense or resistance against tyranny.

You'd still own all your better guns on top of that.

I felt ripped off when I bought mine for $170 knowing they were $120 like a year prior. Now I know what I got. techjically I have several thousand dollars of nuggets by just buying the m44 and m39 imports when they hit sweaty bens shelves and some good used gun section mismarking. All of my garbagerods were solid shooters at military rifle accuracy using the (still) cheapest center-fire mild steel ammo I could find that wasn't corrosive.

The idea people are buying round receivers for $350+ ($250 or less actually sold prices) because boomers got replaced by funco pop collecting muh speculative investment goyboys is as hilarious as it is sickening. It's the cheapest thing you'll find ammo for on a storr shelf by several hundred dollarydoos because of you think this is bad imagine trying to buy a pajeetfucked Enfield or 1903 for under a thousand.

>why would you want a bolt action garbage rod when you could get a semi auto garbage rod for not much more
You're asking the wrong question. The right question is: Why would you want a gun in 7.62x54mm R over a gun in 7.62x39mm?

Once you ask yourself this question and really think about it, you'll understand why some people got one, others got the other, and many people got both. Plus, the gun community was different before the assault weapons ban of 2001. Not everyone wanted a semi-automatic in a modern intermediate cartridge. Plenty of hunters, fudds, collectors, etc. were happy with bolt-actions, lever-actions, and pump-actions.

I am aware; you should probably tell that to the guy I was responding to. That being said, being able to buy a nugget for $80 while an SKS was $120 didn't stop people from getting both, as my comment alluded to.

I traded a a box of old rusty pocket knives for a home made black powder pistol, a powder horn, and a possiblies bag, then traded all that for a Tula Mosin carbine. I kept it for a few years, then traded it for half a bottle of Johnny Walker a friend stole from his dad's liquor cabinet in high school. There were over 30 million Mosins produced and they were used extensively by every Communist country in the 20th century. Due to Communists' propensity for slaughtering Communists, the Mosin is (probably) responsible for the death of more Communists than any other firearm in history. This, as a matter of course, makes the Mosin the most based firearm in existence.

I bought a laminate stock nugget for 150 thinking it was an absurd price but by this point I'd already seen what had happened to the sks so I was like 'if I want one ever I have to do it now'.

This, and only this.
Now that it's expensive, it fucking sucks at whatever price you have to pay for it.

It was $59.95 or 2 for 100 at Bud's sleazy gun emporium for the last 50 years until funds bought up all the good ones and the ones left circulating are $700 with a shot out barrel.

Hell, even in 2012 you could go down to a sporting goods store in my old town and pick one out of a barrel for $69.95. And they still came with oil cans and pouches.
Not to mention spam cans of 54R were still dirt cheap.

Are Zoomers just devoid of joy and humor?

>Are Zoomers just devoid of joy and humor?

Zoomers have been browbeaten by their peers into believing that the worst crime you could ever be guilty of is being cringe.
I suppose this is an overcorrection after they were exposed to mainstream "quirky" millennial "humor" growing up where millennials embraced being cringe a little too much.
Zoomers are terrified of being earnest or silly and letting themselves be vulnerable to judgment of others, on the off chance that the judgment will be unfavorable and they will be found guilty of cringe.
It's why their "humor" is so gay, it's just layers and layers of irony that they can fall back on and a "too cool for school" facade.
A zoomer could NEVER have drawn any of these.

tl;dr - yes.

No one is obsessed with it. People liked them because they were $90 at any sporting goods store forever. Now boomers on gunbroker think they are gold so they are trying to resell them for $600.
