>Parade ready =/= combat ready
Pretty true when it comes to the American military.
Aren't the only ones who get any regular marching training the band? I don't think it's a regular part of anybody else's schedule.
Still, the parade was a pretty poor show. I'm conflicted on military parades. On the one hand it *was* the Army's 250th birthday and seeing everyone arrayed and all the different eras of combat troops and equipment is pretty cool.
On the other hand dictatorships like China and Russia give parades a bad name. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with them (heck, Poland has them every year) but when EVERY dictatorship on Earth highlights how much they love them, it makes it awkward when you want to host one yourself.
